Ngā mihi nui to all of those who came to hear Chester Nealie share his ceramic stories. It was a wonderful generous talk and an excellent way to mark the last day of '40 Years, 40 Things, 40 Pins'.
Chester will be back again for those who missed it, for a solo exhibition either 2027 or 2028.
It has been a humbling experience to mark this milestone for the gallery and to connect with so many of our artists, clients and previous members of our team, who make up our Masterworks whanau.

Thank-you to all those who joined us today for the insightful and entertaining talk given by Brenda Chappell and and Bev Smaill from the iconic collecting group, the Stichbury Group. With wonderful details from other members, and great pictures from the collection, it was an excellent insight into their collecting journey.

Congratulations to Karangahape Road Karangahape Art Melanie Roger Gallery for organising an excellent inaugural Karangahape Art Weekend.
It was wonderful to see all the people enthusiastic for such an arts event. It was an all ages audience, even ones from out of town amidst the multitudeof locals.
Thank-you to all the visitors who came and enjoyed our new space and current 40th anniversary exhibition and reconnected with the gallery. We had a wonderful crowd for the Bronwynne Cornish chat with our very own Bronwyn Lloyd, pictured here.
Here's to many more such events!

'Kererū vessel' by Layla Walter is one of many treasures in our 40th anniversary show, '40 Years, 40 Things'.
Layla's works are deeply autobiographical. She shares that each of my works relate to people I adore. Memory, time and space shift as I walk around the glass. Botanical and bird imagery connect to place, friendships, and family – translated into glass, with imagery visible through the soft translucent walls of the vessels.

Kererū carved from photographs by Scott in Matakana (where my mother Sally lives); Nikaū berry picked from my father Adam’s land in Colville.

In working this way, I hold close the relationships and environments that those experiences exist in – they become markers of time and change – Adam is no longer alive.

The experience of those places’ lives inside those of us who were there, and my pieces are my homage to shared memory: to sunlight on a sheltered Karekare garden; to conversations with the sound of waves crashing beyond the hill; to fat kererū sitting in a tree overlooking my work area. Working and reworking the imagery transports me back there, and long hours of making in quiet solitude provide a balance to a life shared with kind people in beautiful places.

Come and visit at our new location suite 4, 2 Canada Street, Auckland C*D.

E-catalogue on our website and in our bio.
