Throwback to our 'FREESTYLE' show that kicked off 3 years ago today. An exhibition celebrating the intersection between art and skateboard culture featuring 42 original artworks on skateboard decks by artists across NZ, 13 Hydrostone skate wheels designed by GHOSTCAT & friends, and a series of aerial skateboarding photographs by the super talented Petra Leary. It was a huge night with close to 250 in attendance, all fed and watered by our awesome sponsors Urbanaut Brewing, Burgerfuel and Joiywine. The night also marked the launch of our second beer collab with Urbanaut & ENOX, as well as a gallery-exclusive T-shirt by DEF. Oh yeah, and who could forget the skate ramp we build in the middle of the gallery for artists and visitors to decorate. Good times! Freestyle 2.0 anyone?

New exciting works by Shawnee Tekii have just arrived in the gallery.

These one-of-a-kind original artworks have been produced using acrylic, aerosol, and resin on perspex.

Size: 400mm (H) x 500mm (W)

Following her 2024 series, Shawnee continues to explore the relationship between people and place — but this year’s collection introduces new layers of complexity inspired by her experiences in Japan. This body of work delves into the concept of liminal spaces: moments of transition where cultures, eras, and aesthetics intersect.

Drawing from the juxtaposition of Japan’s modern cityscapes and serene natural environments, the works explore coexistence, between movement and stillness, chaos and calm, the sacred and the everyday.

New three-dimensional works by Xavier Hart have just arrived in the gallery.

Xavier Hart is an award winning contemporary New Zealand artist known for his dynamic and expressive artwork. With years of experience working across various media, he creates bold, textured works with striking visual impact. The core of Xavier’s artistic philosophy lies in the exploration of movement - the idea that even within a fixed medium, motion can be both suggested and preserved.

Two new works have just landed at Limn Gallery.

We’re excited to share ‘Rising’ and ‘In Bloom’ by Agate Rubene, two works that capture her signature blend of softness and strength. Agate’s practice is all about emotional depth, feminine power, and that quiet tension between vulnerability and resilience.

Layered, luminous, and full of movement.
