Two stunning new works have arrived in the gallery by Meghan Geliza Jackson, an Auckland-based fine artist who works exclusively earth pigments and clay, transforming hand-gathered geological materials into archival paints using traditional techniques.

Her abstract works explore primordial landscapes, natural portals, and the space between the earthly and the ethereal. Rooted in pop surrealism and now informed by abstract expressionism and eco-materialism, her paintings invite moments of calm, reflection, and connection with nature.

Alongside her art practice, Meghan has a background in visual storytelling as an award-winning creative director. She has exhibited and been commissioned internationally, with projects spanning New Zealand, Los Angeles, New York, Italy, Germany, the Philippines, Thailand and the UK. Her work is held in private collections, including the Luciano Benetton Permanent Collection in Treviso, Italy.

New artist to the gallery: Lauren Claire.

We’ve just received three beautiful hand-sculpted Taonga by Hawke’s Bay artist Lauren Claire.

Featured work: Aroha Whakaaronui | Greatest Empathy

This original Taonga has been meticulously hand-sculpted using resin and rope. Lauren uses more than 20 different tools and techniques to create these distinctive works, with each piece taking considerable time and care to create.

About the artist

Lauren Claire is a self-taught Māori artist from Hawke’s Bay with a passion for pushing the boundaries of sculptural art. Her work combines native timber and resin, creating depth and texture while bringing together elements inspired by the natural beauty of Aotearoa.

Lauren continues to push the limits of her distinctive ‘Pounamu style’ sculptures, which represent the qualities she identifies with most: Māori, strong, wahine, empathetic, gentle, resilient, protective, honest and confident.

What a night! Thank you to everyone who came through for the opening of Em Wafer's first Auckland solo show. Missed the opening? 'ELSEWHERE' is now on at Limn Gallery until the 2nd of August to view these works in person (and snap up one of these great works).
