We recently sat down with Robyn Fleet to discuss the ideas behind The Observer Observing, a contemplative collection exploring witnessing, perception and the dialogue between ourselves and the natural world.

In our latest Artist Q&A, Robyn reflects on the personal experiences that shaped this body of work, her evolving painting process, and why themes of presence, ambiguity and observation continue to emerge throughout her practice.

Read the full conversation below. Then experience the works in person. Robyn's pocket exhibition is showing now. Visit us this weekend at our Herne Bay gallery, we'd love to welcome you in.

Enjoying a cuppa, Day 13 by Dianna Smith

Smith chronicles their day by painting her daily ritual.

Dianna Smith is a contemporary New Zealand oil painter based in Tauranga, known for her highly detailed realist paintings inspired by everyday life. Her work captures domestic interiors, familiar objects, and quiet moments, transforming ordinary scenes into compelling visual narratives.

Using natural light, shadow and colour, Dianna creates paintings of remarkable realism and depth. Her meticulous approach celebrates the beauty found in daily routines, inviting viewers to pause and appreciate the subtle details that often go unnoticed.

On gloomy winter days, a bit of colour is just what we need.

We loved doing this clients frame! Simple framing choices, but colour made a huge impact here.

If you've ever wondered how to pull off a bold framing choice, we've written a journal on why colour matters and how to use it with confidence.

Go behind the scenes of Home with Naomi Faifai.

In our latest journal, Naomi shares insights into the making of this remarkable body of work, from the research and reflection that informed the series to the materials, symbols, and stories woven into each piece. It is a thoughtful look at the creative process behind an exhibition that explores identity, belonging, and connection to place.
