Observer Single Mini (Straw Yellow on Oamaru Stone) by Karin Barr

A study in light, balance, and quiet presence. Cast using the lost wax method, Barr’s glass forms sit in striking contrast against solid stone, bringing colour and clarity to minimalist, sculptural lines. Influenced by Bauhaus principles, this piece distils form to its essentials while inviting subtle shifts in light and perspective throughout the day.

Handcrafted in rural Waikato, each work reflects Barr’s ongoing exploration of material, environment, and the dialogue between fragility and permanence.

A moment with Stephanie Postles ✨

“I find a profoundly meditative and cathartic quality in the methodical application of repeated brushwork… I often feel myself pass through this concentration into a flow state, becoming completely absorbed in the moment with the work.”

Influenced by Post-Impressionism, and artists like Pierre Bonnard and Paul Gauguin, Stephanie’s work moves beyond what is seen, into what is felt.

Laurette has one extra painting not included in her catalogue, this will be on show and available to purchase at the opening tonight from 5pm. There will be no early purchasing available for this work, so if you want to be the lucky person to snap it up you will have to put your glad rags on and come to the opening tonight! 🥂

Moving Shadows by Nathan Ingram

A cut-out, powder-coated aluminium work that brings his unmistakable line into the physical world. What begins as a spontaneous 2D scribble is translated into something sculptural, modern, and graphic.

Versatile in its installation, the piece can be mounted at different angles, shifting with light and space. It holds the immediacy of his hand, now objectified, giving form to something once fleeting.

The woman behind "A Room of Women"

Based in West Auckland, Laurette Looker is a self-taught artist working primarily in acrylics. Her intuitive portraits of contemporary female figures embrace bold colour and softness, rendered in a naïve yet expressive style.

Influenced by the rhythms of motherhood, her work reflects a search for solitude, identity, and connection within the intimacy of daily life. Drawing from natural surroundings and everyday objects, her paintings favour atmosphere over narrative, inviting stillness, reflection, and personal interpretation.

The afternoon light on these golden paintings by Melanie Field is absolutely mesmerising.

We’ve paired this giant of a painting with an archival study from last year. It’s incredible to see these forms evolve and expand when translated onto such a large scale.
