In the exhibition, visitors hear pre-recorded fragments of lyrics drawn from American popular music of the mid-twentieth century, performed by the artist herself.
The exhibition title is taken from George and Ira Gershwin’s "S’Wonderful", written in 1927. The song was originally composed for the Broadway musical "Funny Face", and later established as a standard in the jazz repertoire, interpreted and recorded countless times by musicians as diverse as Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sun Ra.
Steinar Sekkingstad writes in his essay accompanying the exhibition: "The lyrics are full of linguistic play with everyday slang, rhyme and phonetic elision (s’wonderful, s’marvelous, emosh’, devosh’), as though common language were not enough to hold the ecstatic magic of falling in love."
