• 🔴 Raud tur – for erfarne turgåarar.
🇬🇧
It’s finally open!
After years of being closed, the old bridge beneath the Vøringsfossen waterfall has been removed and replaced with a brand new bridge – and it’s now officially open! 🙌
You can once again hike to the bottom of one of Norway’s most spectacular waterfalls, cross the canyon and experience the roaring water and refreshing mist up close.
Before you go:
• 🚗 Park at Fossatromma parking area, located 17 km from Eidfjord along the Norwegian Scenic Route Hardangervidda. Avoid parking at Storegjel, as this can cause dangerous situations in traffic.
• 🚶 Follow the old Måbødalen road from Fossatromma for about 2 km until you reach the signed trailhead to Vøringsfossen.
• 🥾 3.7 km one way | 2–3 hours.
• 🔴 Red hike – suitable for experienced hikers.
• 👟 Wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots.
• ⚠️ The path to the bridge has been upgraded and is well marked. The trail beyond the bridge is still rough, uneven and can be wet and slippery, so please take extra care.
• 🍂 Recommended from May/June to October. Do not hike when there is snow and ice.
We hope you’ll enjoy this incredible hike and help us preserve the area by staying on the marked trail. 💙
