Nå er museets nye utstilling offisielt åpnet! 🎉

Vi håper du tar turen innom for å oppleve alt det nye og spennende – over, under og rundt den legendariske Kon-Tiki-flåten. ⛵️

En av dagens aller første gjester var Torfinn Haugland, sønn av Knut Haugland, som var med på den historiske ferden over Stillehavet. På programmet stod omvisninger med museumsdirektør Liv Heyerdahl.

I utstillingen kan du lære mer om Påskeøyas fascinerende kultur og mysterier.

Alt er skapt i tråd med Thor Heyerdahls ånd og verdier – og viser hvordan legenden lever videre i møtet med nye generasjoner. 🌊 🗿🗿🗿

A family from Turin, Italy stopped by and tried out some of the new activities in our new exhibition around the Kon-Tiki raft. ✨

Among other things, they explored this ‘magical book’ that tells the stories of Liv and Thor Heyerdahl from their time on a Pacific island in 1937. 🌴

Student exchange is a perfect way to combine academic learning with hands-on museum experience 🌍✨

Through international collaboration, two cultural anthropology students from the University of Gdańsk are currently working as interns at the Kon-Tiki Museum.

We’re excited to have them on board and to be part of their international learning journey! 🏺📓✏️

Congratulations on the Oscar for the Norwegian film Affeksjonsverdi! 🏆🇳🇴

The winners are in great company—Thor Heyerdahl also won an Oscar in 1952 for his documentary about the Kon-Tiki expedition.

If you’d like to see a real Oscar statuette, this one is on display at the Kon-Tiki Museum. We’re open 365 days a year. Welcome! ✨

A new and exciting piece of history has arrived at the Kon-Tiki Museum. 🌊📖Crew member Knut Magne Haugland’s private diary from the legendary Kon-Tiki Expedition has been donated to the museum by his family.

The diary offers rare and personal glimpses from the journey — including some surprising moments along the way.
During a stay in New York, Haugland wrote:
“…we had a bit too much to drink, but we nevertheless upheld Norway’s honor…” 🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴

Small stories like this remind us that behind one of the world’s most famous expeditions were real people, real adventures, and unforgettable memories.

The Kon-Tiki Museum has received a new and exciting source of knowledge about the Kon-Tiki Expedition. Knut Magne Haugland’s private diary from the famous voyage has been donated to the museum by his family.
