Karin Vermeer Artist

Golden Hour — in situ

Some paintings ask for space to breathe. At 140×180cm (framed 144×184×6cm / 55×72in framed), Golden Hour is scaled to anchor a room — not just fill a wall.

These in-situ images show how the piece holds its own in a living interior: the way the light in the work meets the light in the space, the depth it brings to a room that already has presence.

For collectors building a home around a few, considered pieces — this is one to live with.

Price available on request via DM.

The Burning Hour

A new piece, just completed — 140x180cm, framed 144x184x6cm.

The base is a photograph I took last spring of a pine tree near my studio, drawn to the quiet complexity of its branches, half-veiled by the needles. For this work I stepped away from the chrome paint I usually use, leaving a texture that reads almost like woven fabric.

Built with gel medium, oil paint, and my own hand-cast oil sticks — colors mixed specifically for this piece. The frame is custom-made, with a deep red interior echoing the edges of the canvas.

One of a kind. Available now.

DM or email for pricing, availability, and an in-situ visualization for your space.

The final layer.

After weeks of building texture with hand-cast oil sticks, this is where the painting finds its quiet focus — a small brush, the last details, and the whole surface finally comes together.

This piece (140×180cm) began with a photograph of a pine tree I took here in Rotterdam this spring — now transformed through layers of print and oil paint into something far more atmospheric.

There’s a stillness to this final stage that the earlier, more physical layers don’t have. It’s slow work, but it’s the moment the piece truly becomes itself.

Collecting art is an act of imagination. ✨

That’s why I place my paintings digitally into interiors — so you can see exactly how a work lives in a space. How the colours shift with natural light. How a single piece changes the feeling of an entire room.

Every visualisation I share is an open door: could this be yours?

If something speaks to you, reach out — I’m always happy to create a bespoke in-situ image for your own space.

Morning Bloom

For this painting, I took a different path. ✨ The basis is a photo I took this spring at the Heemraadssingel in Rotterdam, of a stunning magnolia. The work is best photographed in morning or evening light, and the tree itself blooms only briefly.

This time, I let only the contours of the tree speak, with a sky I left completely white. A white box frame with a lilac interior surrounds the piece, in perfect harmony with the canvas’s edges. Oil paint and my handmade oil sticks brought it all together.

100 x 100 cm, framed 104x104x6cm.

Acquiring art is also about imagining it in your space. ✨

When my studio fills up with new work, I place my paintings digitally into interiors — not just to see the pieces fresh, but to understand how they transform a room. How colour shifts with light. How a painting becomes part of a home.

These images are an invitation to see my work the way a collector does — already there, already yours.
Interested in a piece? Feel free to reach out. 🖼️
