Beeldend kunstenaar Welkom Op de Site van Karin Vermeer. Sinds 2002 ben ik werkzaam als onafhankelijk beeldend kunstenaar in Rotterdam. Cobra art Company.

Mijn huidige mixed media werken zijn een mix van computer, fotografie en diverse schildertechnieken. Afgewerkt met een dikke acrylaat structuurlaag met kant motieven. De portretten die ik maak worden samengesteld uit meerdere vrouwen portretten meestal van een andere etnische identiteit. Zo ontstaan er zelf samengestelde niet bestaande personen. In mijn meest recente werken mix ik portretten van o

ude meesters met hedendaagse portretten. De werken zijn in beperkte oplage beschikbaar. maar worden allemaal met de hand gemaakt en daardoor uniek. Ook zijn er oudere popart werken, schilderijen en tekeningen te bekijken, net als werken die ik specifiek in opdracht heb gemaakt voor o.a. Morning Bloom

For this painting, I took a different path. ✨ The basis is a photo I took this spring at the Heemraadssingel in Rotterdam, of a stunning magnolia. The work is best photographed in morning or evening light, and the tree itself blooms only briefly.

This time, I let only the contours of the tree speak, with a sky I left completely white. A white box frame with a lilac interior surrounds the piece, in perfect harmony with the canvas’s edges. Oil paint and my handmade oil sticks brought it all together.

Cobalt & Gold Cherry Blossom — 150×150 cm

This square canvas revisits a composition I first explored a year ago — the same cherry blossom photograph, now reinterpreted at a larger scale and with greater depth.

The work draws direct inspiration from Yves Klein: his iconic ultramarine blue and the commanding way he used gold. The photograph was digitally reworked, mounted on canvas, and built up in multiple layers of gel medium to create rich texture and dimension.

The sky was painted in antique gold chrome paint. The blossom was sculpted with oil sticks — a medium I made myself specifically for this piece: oil paint and beeswax, cast in silicone moulds and mixed to the exact palette of this work.

The painting sits in a natural wood frame with a cobalt blue interior that precisely matches the sides of the canvas. Framed dimensions: 154×154×6 cm.

Autumn Chestnut

A work where digital origin and physical matter converge.

This painting begins with a photograph I took, digitally manipulated and reconstructed before taking on its physical form on canvas. Layer by layer, texture is built using gel medium, followed by a chrome surface that captures and reflects light. Oil paint and custom-made oil sticks — each tone developed specifically for this piece — then introduce a final tactile dimension.

The result exists in tension between control and chance, reflection and depth. As the light shifts and your perspective changes, new layers of the work reveal themselves.

During GO West, the Borgerstraat Studios open their doors.

Inside a former school building in Rotterdam, more than twenty artists work in their studios — from painting and photography to ceramics, performance, multimedia, and design. A self-organised collective in constant motion.

On May 9 & 10, 2026 (12:00–17:00), the building transforms into an open space filled with art, also featuring guest artists exhibiting on the ground floor, the first floor, and in the hallways.

GO West brings all of Delfshaven to life with dozens of locations — from studios to community spaces and homes — all free to visit across neighbourhoods such as Oud Delfshaven, Bospolder, Tussendijken, Spangen, Middelland, Nieuwe Westen, Coolhaveneiland, and Schiemond.

I will also open my studio (Borgerstraat studio 116) and present a selection of new works from my Illuminated Sky series, which I have been passionately developing over the past 1.5 years.

Come by, get inspired, and enjoy art with some drinks and bites 🍷
