We just came across this series of Karelien racing our 1937 Indian Sport Scout at Rømø Motor Festival 🏁 Beautifully captured by Harley's Chrome Stars 😊

Gerrit Miedema vs. Niels Ruiterkamp - two generations, two remarkable machines.
Gerrit raced his formidable 1927 Harley-Davidson J: a 1000cc machine built around a rare three-bar hillclimber frame. Beside him, Niels lined up on our 1929 Harley-Davidson JD racer - built by Max Middelbosch and his mates in the late 1980s, raced across Europe and at Daytona Beach, then brought back to life after decades in the museum.
They raced twice. Gerrit won twice… but Niels came a little closer each time. 😏
Round three will have to wait for another beach race. Rømø 2027, perhaps?

RØMØ RACEDAY - THROTTLE THERAPY.

Our annual Danish beach retreat: getting thoroughly sandblasted alongside Petrolheads from all over Europe, surrounded by everything on wheels that smokes and roars. Sunshine, rainbows, downpours and hold-on-to-your-period-correct-cap coastal winds. Speed, competition and, above all, like-minded people. Bringing Danish beach-racing history, old machines and -yes!- ourselves back to life.🏁

Frank is pretty damn fast on the sand.
(As long as he remembers to put fuel in the bike… ) But even with a full tank, his ’41 WLDR couldn’t quite catch Andreas and his Knucklehead-powered VL. Could those two Linkerts have something to do with it? 😏 Either way, Andreas took the win in the motorcycle class at . Again. And well deserved! 🏁👏
