OFFICIAL SELECTION WOOF: Anna Doyle - Of Ghosts and Caves

A travel diary in contemporary Vietnam where the ghosts of the ancient past, the Vietnam War and the geological excavations of Buddhism still haunt the traveler. Here, the ancient, the modern and the contemporary collide. The film combines hybrid media, evanescent figures breathing into the “poor image” of the digital age, 3D cave mapping, Super-8 and Instagram stories to deconstruct our expectations of the usual ethnographic film. In the background, the sound of US Army Operation Wandering Soul persists into the montage: this sound was artificially made by US soldiers to imitate Vietnamese ghosts to scare Viet-Cong soldiers out of the jungle.

Du Moul In {𝑑𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑒𝑙 𝑖𝑛} - is a gameshow by Ian Skirvin, Mike Moonen and Michiel Ubels that breaks the fourth wall and a lot of egg shells. A slippery pounding peeling experience shot live at De Nachtzuster in Tilburg that knows only one winner. After many rounds of challenges, battles and assignments, it is still unclear to this day if the game was actually enjoyed by anyone.

OFFICIAL SELECTION WOOF: Doortje Schoonbrood - RAGE
Doortje on RAGE: Anger and RAGE are often seen as ugly emotions – feelings that we have learned to hide. But why? Emotions are there for a reason. Anger is your body’s way of communicating that something is wrong. I encountered my anger. During a fun outing I went to a Rage room. You know, a room where you can smash things. A flood of emotions flowed through me: frustration and sadness, but above all I was angry. After that day I realized that I had completely neglected a large part of myself. I want to make people aware of the importance of not bottling up anger. Anger is a source of strength and we can use it as fuel. It gives you the energy to take action and initiate change. This experimental animation short is a student film, produced at the Master of Animation ‘s-Hertogenbosch. ‘RAGE’ is completely animated by hand with oil pastel on paper. The music is composed by Nina Grimm, a student at the Metal Factory. The beautiful angry sounds support the story and the animation, which allows us to experience the emotion even better. The anger takes over us. We let the fire change us. We let it burn everything that does not serve us.

OFFICIAL SELECTION WOOF: Studio Yeddi - Snuffelstage.
Cutting, pasting, drawing and playing together. Studio Yeddi is a small art collective from Heerlen and Landgraaf and an occasional band: two drummers, a pianist and a pioneer. As four makers (, .dna, , ) they discover how nice it is to play and create together while wagging their tails. The second edition of WOOF was the reason for them to roll up their sleeves again and make a new production in a short time.

Mustra is an interdisciplinary artist from Croatia, based in the Netherlands. Her work is rooted in resilience, driven by curiosity, and shaped by a fearless embrace of new challenges. Her path has spanned diverse fields like veterinary medicine, environmental sustainability, animal and human rights, and activism, each one feeding into the raw urgency of her creative voice.

The stranger, in Croatian “Stranac”, is a short-mixed media film visualising artists theory of “possessive emotions” through a symbolic figure of a creature that has been inspired by Slavic paganism and artists vision of the self. Throughout this short film we are following main characters life, the solitude but also community, struggle, happiness, connectedness, belonging, not belonging, and being invisible when wearing bright colours.

anne chris van doesburg (1995) is an actor, creator, and interdisciplinary
performing artist. they study performance at the toneelacademie maastricht
and have been working interdisciplinary since their teenage years, integrating
text, movement, acting, music, and visual art. their work revolves around
themes such as longing and pain, trauma and sexuality, darkness and hope —
expressed through poetic, physical, and confrontational forms.
at WOOF filmfestival heerlen, they will be showing: BLEEDING BABY DEER ON
ICE FOR EVER. a film of three physical performances of a surrealistic creature

OFFICIAL SELECTION WOOF: Wout Biemans - The One Close to the Sea

The One Close to the Sea shows the immersion of a filmmaker in a Scottish landscape. Not a narrative representation of what happens on the surface of this landscape, but the search for a simple rhythm, that lies underneath this landscape and makes up its essence. This is not a search for any landscape, but for that mode of being, that is essential to all landscape. A search for what transforms mere place, into landscape.

Wout Biesmans (Belgium, 1997) is a filmmaker, teacher, and programmer. He studied Audiovisual Arts at the Royal Academy for Fine Arts Ghent and obtained his Educational Master’s degree at LUCA School of Arts Genk. In 2023, he founded R(a/u)pture, a Belgian collective that organises film and music programmes. His works have been exhibited and screened at various art and film festivals, such as Athens Digital Arts Festival, Small Shorts Festival Saint Petersburg, and Éclats Festival Brussels.
