First layers of paint on the 3D printed exhaust. Very pleased where this is going. Exhaust pipes superbly printed by Merlins R us.

Next are some heat effects to ty it all together...and then on to the port side.

Almost all fin ribs for N3069s tail unit done now. Still a lot of detailed fit,finish, trimming and polishing to do but very pleased with the progress so far...it's starting to look like a tail. Obvisiouly an enormous task still awaits doing the front section of it. All of upcoming week out for duties so back on it next weekend.

Hans Wienkes build Kotare Models LTD limited edition Spitfire PR IA model and added a few extras. He very kindly donated the model to the project and exhibit.

Enjoy watching this short video It brought many smiles to faces of many visitors.

Work on the tail unit continues as also on the exhaust set.

The project is the proud owner of a full scale replica of a Rolls Royce Merlin III engine. Superbly made by Merlins R us . The majority of our visitors think it is a real engine...it is that good. The RRM now has a full set of exhausts also made by Jamie Clark of Merlins R Us collected during our holiday last week. Now dry fitted with some fit&finish work and painting next on the agenda.

A prop hub and blades are on our order planning too.

Today is our Liberation Day(bevrijdingsdag) and this is celebrated with many festivities in the country.

The exihibit and Centre are open from 11.00hrs to 17.00hrs. Work will continue on the tail unit today...can you spot the progress?

Today is our National Remembrance Day. At 20.00hrs 2 minutes of sillence for all our fallen heros from past and present.

An idea popped up in my head when I was writing this post. Normally I stay out of the way of AI image enhancements and such but the idea had me trying out the possibilities AI offers these days.

This post covers the pilots who flew N3069 on operational PR sorties over the European continent during the winter and early spring 1940. Only four pilots flew N3069 operational over the continent. Niven, Longbottom, Le Mesurier and Wheatley. What a great photo it would be if we could see these four pioneering PR Spitfire pilots in a group photo. The four were posted at the PDU at the same time and would have known each other very well as the tight knit group they were.

I think the photo came out cracking and decided to go ahead and publish. From left to right: F/O Mervyn Wheatley, F/O Robert "Bob" Niven, F/O Maurice "Shorty" Longbottom and F/Lt Eric Le Mesurier. All four men would not survive the war.
