Between 1936-47 Dupuis was curator of the Museum of Beaux Arts, Gand, Belgium.

In this little gem the artist was possibly very much inspired by the dynamic movement of the sea, the breakers and the waves rendered by Gustave Courbet, Jan Toorop or James Ensor before him.

New Arrival!

This artistic gem is by the little known friend of Mondriaan and van Dongen, Jean (Jan) Verhoeven.

Verhoeven lived and worked most of his life in Paris. Here he shared a studio with van Dongen.

In 1910 his work was exhibited alongside that of Redon and Lebasque at the renowed Parisian Galerie Druet.

Until the late 1930’s he was a frequent participant in the Parisian Salons with his fauvistic still lifes and oriental women.

His works seldom appears on the market.
