In ieder stuk steen zit iets verborgen wat zichtbaar gemaakt kan worden. Dat is waar ik in mijn beeldhouwwerk
altijd naar op zoek ben. Tijdens het scheppingsproces kom je steeds dichter bij die essentie. Het fguratieve of
abstracte beeld wat uiteindelijk ontstaat (of een samensmelting daarvan), is als het ware het gevolg van een
gesprek met die steen. Het zijn gesprekken waar ik nooit genoeg van k

rijg en die ik heb in opdracht, als ik bezig
ben met eigen werk of samen met jou tijdens beeldhouwworkshops.

Today on International Women’s Day I’m going back to Hawaii. During my stay on Big Island Hawaii I made a picture. The image is a representation of how I felt the power of the volcano. Pele is a very important and powerful goddess in Hawaiian mythology, known as the goddess of volcanos, fire, lightning and the creation of the island. For me she was a great inspiration

My creativity in sculpture was suddenly cut off by an injury and a burnout.

No pouffe and energy to look for and find a new place. Materials and tools and sculptures got rid of. It first gave me peace to recover to find a new job and when all that was back on track came the feeling that something essential of myself was missing.

I had arranged with my friends in Hawaii to make a sculpture of a piece of Ohi’a wood.

When I had the opportunity to book this long vacation to Hawaii and visit Simone there were some things I wanted to do and see. What has already been achieved from that list:

We had agreed that I would make a sculpture. From Oia wood that grows in their garden and lies in sawn pieces.

In the following messages I will try to describe the process of making the sculpture and what this means for me.
