“My work is punctuated by reflections on music. Just like comics, music revolves around a structure of time and rhythm. Apart from the image, notated on staves, abstract, music does not describe, it evokes. I have always considered the creative process as a total act, involving a logic of taking into account all graphic, written, and narrative elements. From the smallest, the line, to the largest, the book (or even the trilogy or series), each element implemented can be conceived and staged, each detail has its importance within a larger whole, each piece echoes another, each bead fits together to create a coherent sonic or visual necklace. It is at this price that the works produced acquire meaning. And this meaning is shown and apparent, but also hidden, underlying. There is a muted word and a resonant word, there is a hum and a clear sound. There is an obviousness drawn, described, and an obviousness hidden, masked, hermetic present in the detail of the work, in the form of slag or hermetic signs.”

“Mijn werk wordt gekenmerkt door reflecties op muziek. Net als strips draait muziek om een structuur van tijd en ritme. Los van het beeld, genoteerd op notenbalken, abstract, beschrijft muziek niet, maar roept ze op. Ik heb het creatieve proces altijd beschouwd als een totaalact, met een logica die rekening houdt met alle grafische, geschreven en narratieve elementen. Van het kleinste, de lijn, tot het grootste, het boek (of zelfs de trilogie of serie), elk element kan worden bedacht en geënsceneerd, elk detail heeft zijn belang binnen een groter geheel, elk stuk weerspiegelt een ander, elke kraal past in elkaar om een samenhangende klank- of visuele ketting te vormen. Het is op deze manier dat de geproduceerde werken betekenis krijgen. En deze betekenis is zichtbaar en duidelijk, maar ook verborgen, onderliggend. Er is een gedempt woord en een resonerend woord, er is een gezoem en een helder geluid. Er is een vanzelfsprekendheid die getekend en beschreven wordt, en een vanzelfsprekendheid die verborgen, gemaskeerd en hermetisch aanwezig is in de details van het werk, in de vorm van slakken of hermetische tekens.“
