We are tired of the narrative that says to be a serious artist in this world, you must let go of Beauty, let go of Truth, let go of Jesus.
It saddens us to look at this generation, so full of creativity and passion, who are told that they must choose : either to follow Jesus or to be a serious artist.
The Church tries to separate Beauty and Truth, clinging to Truth above all else.
But Beauty and Truth go hand in hand and to try and separate the two is detrimental to our society.
The Church used to explode with artists who honored Beauty and created to illustrate Truth.
We’ve lost that.
We’ve forgotten that the first people empowered with the Holy Spirit were creatives, artists given a special grace.
The Church has put artists in a box, limiting the way they are free to create, pushing them into the secular world.
It’s time for the Church to remember that artists and creatives are necessary for heaven to come to earth.
It’s time for creatives to be bold about their faith, sharing how they invite the Holy Spirit into their process of making.
It’s time for us to bring imagination and Beauty back into our faith.
New things are coming.
