The gallery’s program is dedicated to contemporary art and photography, focusing on emerging young artists as well as established international artists. We aim for a long-term commitment in developing the artists’ career and acting as a liaison to other galleries outside The Netherlands. One of the connecting factors, how varied the outcome may be, is the narrative, socially committed figuration i

n the various disciplines. Political, social actuality and individualism are key ingredients to reflect the spirit of this age. Confronted with the many aspects of human relations, especially those of alienation, isolation, absurdum and the raw side of life, these works call for self-reflection. Brandt Gallery is represented on several art fairs in The Netherlands and abroad and cooperates with like-minded galleries and art institutes throughout Europe and the USA.

"Treasury" by Jan de Vliegher.

De Vliegher captures his subjects with vigorous yet controlled brushwork; working 'alla prima', wet on wet paint to achieve a sense of vitalized reality. Using large brushes, he applies the paint with skillful accuracy, limiting each and every stroke to match his intentions. The compilation of paint, forms, light, and shadows result in a perfect harmony of movement.

Don't miss the chance to see the captivating works of Emmanuel Barcilon at our PAN Amsterdam presentation. ⁠

Barcilon's work consists of layers of pure pigments poured onto the surface, which he then manipulates to make the underlying layers partially visible again. Barcilon sometimes takes up to a year to complete a painting. Layer upon layer without completely removing the previous one. The transparent layers and contrasting colors at the edges of the panel make many nuances of color and line visible. These bring about an almost hypnotic effect. Whereas in the past he usually applied drawings and collages to the surface, this recent series of paintings consists of seemingly monochrome color planes⁠.

Yigal Ozeri (b. 1958) is an established artist who creates documentary photo-realistic paintings that capture the chaotic pulse of New York’s urban terrain. As a New Yorker himself, Ozeri has developed an eye for the unconventional moments of beauty that city dwellers have long embraced. It is in these offbeat settings that Ozeri’s work captures a 21st-century sensibility.⁠

We are pleased to welcome Pavel Dušek to our gallery.

Pavel Dušek (b. 1992) works on the borderline between painting, object and installation. His works are based on an intense physical contact with the material, layering, disrupting and reassembling forms. Dušek is a painter who is fascinated by material - cement, concrete, metal and acrylic - both in form and content

Working between painting, object and installation, Dušek explores the relationship between the inner space of man and the outer world - between construction and decay, intuitive gesture and rational composition. He is characterized by expressive structures, the rawness of materials and the play with residues, traces and fragments. He also likes to place his work in public spaces and urban landscapes. He has installed his paintings on buildings in many cities from New York to Istanbul.

We look forward to presenting his new works at PAN Amsterdam, November 2–9.
