“Our vision is for a new Nigeria with a common sense of purpose and a common destiny. A Nigeria that is neither North nor South, West nor East, but dedicated to the common good of all.”
— Shehu Musa Yar’Adua

On this Independence Day, may we continue to build a united Nigeria, committed to the common good of all.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬

Some conversations can save lives.

This September, as we mark World Su***de Prevention Day, She Writes Woman and the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Foundation invite you to the Safe Place, a virtual conversation on “Changing the Narrative on Su***de”.

Too often, su***de is surrounded by silence, stigma, and fear. Safe Place creates the space for honest conversations, lived experiences, expert insights, and practical ways to recognise distress, offer support, and build communities where people feel seen, heard, and safe enough to ask for help.

Date: Sunday, 27 September 2026
Time: 2:00 PM (WAT)
Register: bit.ly/SWWSafePlace
Join the session: bit.ly/SWW-WSPD

Whether you are joining to learn, listen, support someone you care about, or be part of the conversation, you are welcome here.

Let us change the narrative with empathy, hope, and action.

Unity is not the absence of differences, but the deliberate choice to look past them for a collective purpose.

When addressing the nation during the launch of the People’s Front of Nigeria (PFN) in Lagos in 1989, Late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, GCFR, laid down a foundational blueprint for national integration, reminding us that true progress belongs to a united front.

True nationalism breaks down regional barriers; it builds a shared identity where every citizen is seen, heard, and valued equally.

Ideas without ex*****on remain mere illusions. Real leadership is the bridge that turns abstract dreams into tangible, structural reality for society.

When launching the People’s Front of Nigeria (PFN) Manifesto in Lagos in 1989, Late Major-Gen. (Rtd) Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, GCFR defined true governance not by its promises, but by its capacity to mobilize collective action and breathe life into a shared vision for the nation.

True leaders don’t just envision a better future; they build the actionable frameworks to achieve it.

On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in partnership with the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Foundation, convened a Civil Society Engagement Session on the 2026 IMF Article IV Consultation Report for Nigeria.
The engagement brought together civil society organisations, policy experts, development partners, and other stakeholders to discuss the report’s key findings, exchange perspectives on Nigeria’s macroeconomic outlook, and explore the implications of ongoing economic reforms for citizens.
Through presentations, open dialogue, and an interactive question-and-answer session, participants engaged directly with IMF representatives, reinforcing the importance of transparency, evidence-based policy discussions, and meaningful stakeholder participation in shaping Nigeria’s economic future.
