💔 Two months ago, Archbishop Augustine Obiora Akubeze was celebrating with joy, dancing alongside his brother bishops during an Episcopal anniversary.

Today, the Catholic Church mourns his passing.

This video reminds us of a timeless truth:

Life is a gift.
Every celebration may become a cherished memory.
We truly do not know what tomorrow holds.

Archbishop Akubeze served the Church with humility, courage and unwavering faith. May Christ, whom he served faithfully as priest and bishop, welcome him into His eternal kingdom.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen.

🙏 Please join Catholics around the world in praying for the repose of his soul.

The Holy Eucharist: Christ's Body and Blood, Our Source of Mercy and Salvation

Caption
The Holy Eucharist is the heart of the Catholic faith—the sacrament in which Jesus Christ gives us His true Body and Blood for the forgiveness of sins and the nourishment of our souls.

As we approach the altar with faith and reverence, may we remember Christ's ultimate sacrifice on the Cross and receive Him with clean hearts and sincere devotion.

"Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life." — John 6:54

May the Body and Blood of Christ strengthen our faith, wash away our sins, and lead us to everlasting life.

🙏 Amen.

The Catholic Church in Nigeria recently had a special visit from Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher. He is a top official from the Vatican who handles relationships with countries around the world. He came to Nigeria to celebrate 50 years of friendship between Nigeria and the Vatican.

When he arrived, many church leaders welcomed him warmly. These included the Pope’s representative in Nigeria, Archbishop Michael Francis Crotty, and the head of the Catholic Bishops' Conference, Bishop Matthew Man'Oso Ndagoso. Also present were Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, former Archbishop John Cardinal Onaiyekan, and many priests, religious workers, and church members from Abuja.

During his visit, Archbishop Gallagher went to Veritas University in Abuja, which is run by the Catholic Bishops' Conference. He talked with students and staff there. He also held a special Mass at Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Pro-Cathedral, where he prayed with local priests and church members.

He also visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja. They talked about the good relationship between Nigeria and the Vatican over the past 50 years. They also discussed how they can work together more to help solve problems in Nigeria and the world.

On July 6, Archbishop Gallagher, together with the Pope’s representative and other church leaders, visited the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). They met its president, Archbishop Daniel C. Okoh. They also went to the National Mosque to meet the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III, who is the head of Nigeria’s Islamic council. In both meetings, they all agreed to keep working for peace, religious understanding, and unity in Nigeria.
