How art re-defines and how architecture can express was what was on my mind while taking these shots. The sort of conversations would enjoy! 😊
I was glad I could get to see this art exhibition in the old (built in 1868). The exhibition was installed in May 2023 and was on exhibition for a whole year.
I find intriguing, especially when they are explored to some depth.
In my opinion, there are sub cultures that evolve around public spaces and histories of many decades or centuries are captured in such spaces.
Reading about the exhibition, got me even more curious. I would share some excerpts from an interesting article as well as the links for further reading.
‘‘Pond Life’ (the title of this exhibition) is among a series of installations in public spaces that seek to enhance the way millions of Londoners experience their city every day and joins Art on the Underground’s many critically acclaimed projects that are accessible to each and every commuter within the city. Art on the Underground has involved a wide roster of UK-based and international artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Mark Wallinger and Jeremy Deller, and through its support for projects such as Pond Life, continues to occupy a place of prominence within contemporary discourse around art’s role in public spaces’.

Instagram is more than a place for pretty pictures. I think it is an excellent place for collective contemplation. The exhibition itself raised eyebrows…😊
‘In 2000, the disused eastbound platform was suggested as a location for temporary art installations, with artworks located in the brick recesses in the northern retaining wall. Platform for Art, and subsequently Art on the Underground have used the disused platform for temporary installations of sculptures, murals or photographs. Artworks have been by a variety of artists over the past 20 years, including David Shrigley, Chiho Aoshima[28] and Heather Phillipson. (Culled from Wikipedia).
