Join us at G13 Gallery for Artistic Journeys Abroad: Encounters, Exchanges and Shifting Perspectives, an art talk featuring Malaysian artists Amar Shahid, Najib Bamadhaj and Nik M Shazmie.

Drawing from their different experiences of exhibitions, art fairs and artist residencies in Europe, the artists will reflect on how working and presenting art beyond Malaysia has shaped their practices, cultural perspectives and understanding of the international art landscape.

The conversation will explore the opportunities and challenges of entering new cultural contexts, engaging with different audiences, and what each artist ultimately brings home from these encounters.

G13 Gallery is pleased to present our 16th Anniversary Show, featuring over 40 artists. Marking 16 years of growth, discovery and collaboration, we celebrate this milestone with an exhibition honouring the diverse voices that have shaped our journey and continue to expand our artistic conversations.

Mubarak Jamil's ceramic sculpture explores the tension between outward beauty and hidden danger. Its refined blue-and-white porcelain surface speaks to innocence and trust, while forms emerging from within disrupt that surface — a reminder that appearances alone rarely tell the full story.

Amar Shahid's work reflects on how language and imagery shape the way meaning is constructed and interpreted across cultures. Drawing on visual references from popular media, the piece explores how symbols can carry shifting, layered meanings depending on context and perspective — leaving viewers to form their own reading of the image before them.

This work is a quiet love letter to home — a place where the smallest gestures become the deepest expressions of love. Inspired by the artist's mother, whose gentle habit of arranging flowers brought warmth, beauty, and peace into the family home, the painting celebrates the tenderness found in ordinary moments that quietly become extraordinary memories.

Each bloom carries more than colour; it holds fragments of affection, gratitude, and the invisible threads that bind a family together — silent witnesses to laughter shared over meals, conversations that linger into the evening, and the comforting presence of someone whose love never asked to be noticed, only felt.

Through layered compositions, delicate textures, and a gentle harmony of colours, Fadzril Fakaruddin invites viewers to slow down and return to the places where their hearts first learned the meaning of comfort, belonging, and unconditional love — a tribute to the enduring love of family, and the gentle hope that wherever life may lead us, our hearts will always find their way back to the garden where love first bloomed.

Where the Tide Blooms brings together two elements from completely different worlds: the chrysanthemum and the sea.

Removed from their natural surroundings, the flower and the ocean meet on canvas to create a quiet space where stillness is not about stopping, but about finding balance within constant movement.

Through layers and reconstruction, the work reflects a simple feeling many of us recognise: trying to find moments of calm within the rhythm of everyday life.

Izzuddin Basiron's Crossing The Line IV, inspired by the Royal National Theatre in London, examines the interplay between architecture, space, and perception. Geometric structures and layered perspectives create a dialogue between stability and transition, capturing the continuous movement between defined boundaries and unfamiliar possibilities.

Noor Zahran's Private Track turns to a different kind of structure — the systems that quietly profit from our everyday lives. A cassette becomes a metaphor for data storage, unspooling barricade tape instead of music to represent consumer data circulating in tangled, controlled patterns. What once stored memories now carries warnings, raising questions about how much of our lives are recorded, repackaged, and sold.

Together, both works examine the structures around us — one physical, one invisible — and how each shapes the way we move, live, and are seen.

Meet Rei. 🎨

Phebby marks Ng Yan Lei, known as Rei’s, debut in a Malaysian gallery, bringing years of international training into her contemporary figurative painting practice.

Beginning her creative journey as a digital concept artist, Rei explored 3D modelling and watercolour before finding her focus in oil painting, particularly the human figure and portraiture.

After further developing her practice at The Florence Academy of Art, Sweden, and the Barcelona Academy of Art, Rei returns to Malaysia with a distinct approach to capturing the human figure through oil.

Faizal Suhif, a Johor Bahru-born artist drawn to "the interplay of order and randomness where man and nature meet," uses isolated, floating scenes as metaphors for sowing seeds — a reminder that only fertile ground brings forth new life.

Aliff Danial builds imagined landscapes from fragments of places he's encountered, his monochromatic charcoal and pastel works mirroring how memory itself unfolds — never linear, always overlapping.

Together, both artists turn to nature and landscape as language, thinking through growth, memory, and what it takes for something to truly take root.

Cute faces. Sharp eyes. Something deeper underneath.

Tennessee Caroline's signature chubby-cheeked characters may look playful and innocent, but their piercing expressions tell a different story. With vibrant colours and a touch of mystery, her works balance sweetness with satire, turning simple characters into reflections of life, society, and the world around us.

Gabriel Eva is a contemporary impressionist and expressionist painter known for her evocative, nature inspired works in acrylic and oil. Her practice explores the beauty of nature through spontaneous brushwork, layered textures and deeply personal colour palettes, often capturing the quiet atmosphere and emotional presence of natural landscapes.

Inspired by a hike through Puthuk Gragal, a quiet mountain whose path unfolds through an enchanting pine forest, this painting celebrates the moments along the way rather than the destination, the places that quietly ask us to slow down and simply observe.

Gabriel Eva translates that sense of wonder onto canvas, moss wrapped trunks, a carpet of ferns, and rows of trees fading into the distance, a tribute to the grandeur and quiet poetry of nature.
