The Borneo World Insect Museum (BWIM) is a signature attraction of the seaside Surim Garden Nature Resort, situated near the mouth of a river where it discharges into the South China Sea. This boutique museum, the only one of its kind in Southeast Asia, presents 55 displays of arranged insect specimens in wall-mounted glass-topped cases. On display are thousands of insects from around the world, i
ncluding examples of all major orders. The specimens are selections from the private research collection of a California native who has lived with his Malaysian family in Borneo for the past 15 years. They represent 70 years of collecting and biodiversity study in more than 20 countries, including 25 islands, within 4 of the world’s 7 continents.
