Meet NX, the newest addition to UR-MU Bukit Bintang. Opening up an entirely new side of the museum experience. Explore expanded gallery spaces, temporary exhibitions, events, a library corner, and inviting spots to sit, read, and talk art.

Set within a thoughtfully reimagined apartment unit in the heart of the city, NX is where art and architecture come together. And the best part? NX is included with your UR-MU Bukit Bintang admission.

Meet Az Samad.

A jazz guitarist, composer, and educator with over two decades of experience, Az Samad is known for his thoughtful approach to improvisation and artistic exploration. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he has performed internationally and continues to push the boundaries of his creative practice.

For Still Live + ImproVision, Az will transform visual artworks into spontaneous musical interpretations, creating a unique dialogue between sound and image in real time.

Still Live returns, but with a twist. Join us, exclusively with distinguished jazz guitarist, composer, and educator; Az Samad.

The afternoon continues with ImproVision — a live improvisational set where artworks become the musical score. Guided by colour, movement, gesture, and form, the performer responds in real time, translating visual language into spontaneous sound.

Throughout the past week, our museum has been alive with activities, conversations, and shared experiences. We are deeply humbled and grateful for the overwhelming support we have received. The enthusiasm and curiosity shown by all of you; our museum-goers, have only strengthened our determination to continue making the Malaysian art scene more vibrant and accessible to the wider public.

From our museum guided tours and the Bukit Bintang Heritage Walk to the highlight of the week—Night at the Museum, we were honoured to welcome so many curious minds into our space. We hope these experiences offered meaningful insights and inspired you to share your visit with friends, family, and even strangers alike. Most importantly, we have made many new friends along the way.

This International Museum Day, UR-MU wishes all museum lovers a very Happy Museum Day. With or without Museum Week, our doors are always open for you to wander, discover, and return.

Our opening hours are now back to normal, and we can’t wait to welcome many new faces into our space.

(And to the UR-MU team, thank you for working our hearts out and putting this week together so beautifully. We are a small team, to say “proud of you” is an understatement.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Samsudin Wahab, or fondly known to many as Buden, a fiercely imaginative artist whose works helped shape a generation of contemporary Malaysian art.

From print-making and painting to sculpture, performance, and installation, Samsudin moved fluidly across mediums, building worlds where fantasy and reality collided. His works carried emotional tension, strange figures, rural memory, and reflections on the unpredictability of life itself.

At UR-MU, we are honoured to house several of his works within our collection. His presence continues to colour our museum, not only through the visual intensity of his works, but through the questions, discomforts, memories, and conversations they leave behind within the space.

His works remind us that art can be instinctive, vulnerable, unsettling, and deeply human all at once.

Thank you, Buden, for the worlds you built and the traces you leave behind.

Keep an eye on our homegrown, budding artist; Izzati Nabilah. Let us introduced you to our three newest eccentric addition to UR-MU’s archive!
