First Teochew opera, puppet show museum and performance space in Malaysia!

一名封了箱的潮劇演繹家，一堆封塵的絢麗戲服與道具，一箱箱寫著歲月的潮州木偶，一份對潮人文化的執著和熱忱。 。 。
在馬來西亞著名文化遺產保護及中華文化的熱衷推手- 林玉裳女士的牽針引線下，她和慕韓別墅合作開創了潮州戲曲文化藝術空間--《潮藝館》，延續了她與〈金玉樓春木偶劇團〉的傳奇故事。她出身潮劇世家，外婆楊清音女士曾是50年代南洋潮劇名伶，母親杜愛花女士更是“老榮秀春班”出色的女樂師。自幼受戲曲的熏陶下，她不僅承接父母的衣缽，成為木偶劇團的掌櫃人，更是創辦了〈金玉樓春潮劇團〉。她，就是大馬潮州戲曲達人-- 吳慧玲。

《斷橋會》出自經典民間傳說《白蛇傳》，是家喻戶曉的戲曲經典折子戲。白素貞水漫金山救夫失利，與小青退守西湖；許仙幡然醒悟，逃出金山，三人於斷橋意外重逢。小青怒責許仙負心，白素貞愛恨交織、左右為難，許仙痛悔認錯。斷橋之上，愛恨糾纏、情怨兩難，將痴情與誤會、包容與和解演繹得淋漓盡致。

Reunion at the Broken Bridge is one of the most beloved scenes from the classic folktale The Legend of the White Snake. After failing to save her husband by flooding Kim Suan Temple, Peh Su Jeng retreats to West Lake with Sio Cheh. Kou Siang, finally seeing the truth, escapes and the three meet again unexpectedly at Broken Bridge. Sio Cheh confronts Kou Siang for his betrayal, while Peh Su Jeng is caught between love and anger. Kou Siang, filled with regret, begs for forgiveness. A scene of passion, misunderstanding, and reconciliation, all unfolding on one bridge.

The little puppets went on another school adventure last week ✨

This time we headed to SJK (C) Kong Min 2 and got to welcome some very special guests from across the causeway, Meridian Primary School, Singapore！

A little shy at first…... but the moment everyone picked up a puppet, it was game on 🤩 Even the teachers joined in, and honestly? They were suspiciously good 👀👏

上個星期小小木偶們又一次闖進校園啦 ✨

這次來到公民第二分校，還迎來了一群遠道而來的新朋友：新加坡 Meridian Primary School 的同學們！

一開始大家都有點害羞……但一握起木偶大家就玩嗨了 🤩 最後連老師也忍不住下場，而且舞技還特別好呢 👀👏

🎭 Liu Xiaoli · First-Class Teochew Opera Performer, China
Over 40 years on stage. Trained at the Shantou Opera School, she is now a nationally recognised First-Class performer at the Guangdong Teochew Opera Theatre, celebrated for her expressive acting and powerful vocals with multiple personal albums to her name.

🎭 Chen Yunlong · Renowned Teochew Opera Mentor, Thailand
Trained at the Shantou Opera School in 1978, he has performed across Thailand, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Since settling in Thailand in 1991, he has served as artistic director of the Letin Quyi Society since 2006, dedicated to keeping Teochew opera alive overseas.

We are truly honoured to have both masters travelling all this way to perform on our stage.

🎭 劉小麗老師 · 中國潮劇一級演員

四十載舞台風華，一輩子的青衣情。劉小麗老師自1978年踏入汕頭戲曲學校，主攻青衣，現任廣東潮劇院一團國家一級演員。以細膩傳神的表演與紮實深厚的唱功著稱，成功塑造了《辭郎洲》陳璧娘、《告親夫》若雲與顏秋容、《蘇后復國》蘇后等多個令觀眾難忘的經典角色，並出版多套個人唱腔專輯，是無數潮劇愛好者學習的重要典範。

🎭 陳運龍老師 · 泰國著名潮劇導師

從廣東到泰國，潮劇走到哪，他就教到哪。陳運龍老師1978年入讀汕頭戲曲學校，畢業後加入廣東潮劇院，以自然細膩的表演風格及紮實穩健的唱念功底見稱，演出劇目包括《巧姻緣》《活捉孫富》《包公破碎屍案》等。1991年移居泰國後，自2006年起擔任樂天曲藝社曲藝指導，長期在海外默默耕耘，讓潮劇的種子在異鄉生根。

此次承蒙兩位大師不辭遠道，親臨舞台獻藝，實屬難得，深感榮幸。
這樣的機會，實在可遇不可求✨ 7月11日，來親眼見證兩位大師的舞台風采吧！

Happy World Museum Day 🎭

For us, a museum was never just a building.
It's the living culture inside it.
And if it's alive, it shouldn't stay put!

So last night, we packed up our puppets,
assembled the TPOH squad,
and charged straight into USM Engineering Campus!! 🏃🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

We joined "Sailing Into Southern Seas",
a cultural event organised by Persatuan Bahasa TiongHua
and the School of Languages, Literacies, and Translation (SoLLaT),
USM Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Engineering Campus ⛵

🪩 The puppets walked in and immediately stole the whole show.
That's what living culture should looks like 💃🕺
