A little bit creepy, on purpose.

That is how artist Shendra Stucki described the first edition of IMMORTAL Q***r Art Fair: brilliant, freeing, and just strange enough “to scare off the normal ones.”

Honestly, she got it exactly right.

IMMORTAL returns to Mexico City this October during Día de los Mu***os, not as a traditional booth fair, but as a Q***r art ecosystem built through residency, exhibition, ofrenda, community, sales, memory, and proximity.

This year, the gathering begins three weeks before the public fair opens. Artists will arrive, work, exchange, and build together before IMMORTAL opens October 23–25 at Sindicato Electricistas in Colonia Juárez, with support from SOHO Project Space NYC .

The new editorial on Substack goes inside the curatorial intention behind IMMORTAL 2.0: why Q***r hope is not soft, why visibility is not enough, and why this fair is being built as a room where artists do not have to become smaller in order to be seen.

Q***r hope has teeth.

The IMMORTAL festival was a unique celebration, blending q***r culture and Day of the Dead traditions. It provided a space for incredible freedom of expression and for feeling truly oneself. Q***R ART LIVES HERE.

The Bureau of Q***r Art has a new home in Santa María la Ribera — and it's arriving right as we turn eight.

On September 10th, TBQA turns eight: eight years of exhibitions, residencies, publishing, and relearning what it takes to keep Q***r art visible, built without waiting for institutions to decide if our lives were too political, too sexual, too visible, too complicated, or too much. After two and a half years moving between spaces in the U.S. and Mexico, we're settling into a gallery, studio, and residency space in the center of Mexico City. What a way to celebrate.

Santa María la Ribera — architectural eclecticism, cultural venues, art fairs, food, street life, history — gives us a place to put down roots.

This October, the space welcomes artists in residency from New York City, Switzerland, Mexico, and Spain as part of IMMORTAL 2.0. For three weeks before the fair, artists gather here to work, exchange, and build the community energy that carries into the public event.
