Latitud 19º Arte Contemporáneo es una propuesta lúdica encaminada al cuestionamiento de lo que se entiende por contemporáneo, por público, por artista y por obra. Busca propiciar otra manera en la que los artistas trabajan con la ciudad de México, pero más que eso busca generar otra condición de producir, exhibir y experimentar las obras en este contexto. Es una serie de proyectos artísticos reali
zados en espacios públicos, que proponen estimular a los espectadores conforme se desplazan y crear experiencias sensoriales traslapadas de una manera que idealmente aumente sus intereses. La muestra inserta varias formas de reconocimiento que proveen de involucramiento positivo al espectador: ya sea porque la interacción implica el desarrollo de una comprensión de los intereses "sociales" y conceptuales de los artistas y de su influencia contemporánea, o simplemente por un reconocimiento del drama sensual que puede ofrecernos el espacio urbano en que vivimos. A través de estos efectos, la muestra intenta atraer y seducir a los visitantes para comprometerlos física e intelectualmente con la propuesta. La meta es que los diversos aspectos de la construcción de la muestra –sus planos teóricos, visuales y espaciales- se refuercen entre sí y muevan al espectador de un plano a otro. Se espera hacer circular ideas y experiencias dinámicas que pueden ajustarse a la medida de cualquier público.

Latitud 19º Arte Contemporáneo is a non-profit effort focused on questioning what is understood to be contemporary, public, an artist and a work of art. It aims to bring about another way for artists to work with Mexico City, but mostly to create another space to produce, exhibit and experiment artwork in this context. This is a series of art projects carried out in public spaces that aims to stimulate spectators as they move around and trigger sensorial experiences that would ideally create more interest. Every work of art exists as an experimental activation space that reconstructs and questions the individual’s daily experiences in the city. The work includes various types of recognition that get the spectator involved positively, be it because the interaction entails thinking about and then understand the artists’ “social” and conceptual interests as well as their contemporary influence, or simply noticing the sensual drama that the urban space we live in can show us. By way of these effects, this event tries to attract and seduce visitors in order to get them physically and intellectually involved in what is presented. The aim is for the different aspects in creating this event – its theoretical, visual and spatial plans – to be reinforced within each other and move the spectator from one place to another. We are expecting to spread dynamic ideas and experiences that are tailored to any public.
