Mosaic: art consisting of a design made from pieces of...... just about anything! Squared believes in creating mosaics that instill a positive vibe. Made to fill a void. Created to lure, intrigue, and inspire. Art that transcends our imaginations to places other than where we are at that moment. To know that tile, glass, and stone, were placed in a particular place for a reason. Puzzle pieces that
blend color, the transparency, the design, and the texture, into one spectacular image. Squared mold, high fire, and glaze our very own specialty pieces. We introduce various textures to our work. Children and the visually impaired love the accessibility of our murals. They love the feel of the smooth finishes, the ripples, the shapes of the insects, the flowers, the glass, the rough but gentle concrete finishes, and the fluidity of the mural as a whole. Here, fascination is an understatement and we consider our work, eye candy. . Our inspiration comes from researching the history of the surrounding area, the culture, the nature, the landscape, and foremost, the initial purpose for placing art in that particular space. We always invite community participation (mosaic workshops). We conduct meet and greets wit the locals and teach our techniques to all who participate. All tile made by the community is installed in to the art. Because of the community participation we have also found that the locals tend to be more vigilant when it comes to preventing potential vandalism. With that said, in our thirteen years of building public art, our work has never been vandalized. What else? Don’t view our art just as puzzle pieces in a picture.
