St John's Co-Cathedral This is the official page of St Johnโ€™s Co-Cathedral, a gem of Baroque art & architecture built as the conventual church for the Knights of St John

Commissioned in 1572 by Grand Master Jean de la Cassiรจre as the conventual church of the Order of the Knights Hospitaller of St John and designed by the celebrated Maltese military architect Gerolamo Cassar, St Johnโ€™s Co-Cathedral stands as a unique monument of international importance. The church is dedicated to St John the Baptist, the patron saint of the Order. Today, St Johnโ€™s is also a venue for cultural events and is one of the most popular cultural attractions visited by tourists in Malta. It is administered by the St Johnโ€™s Co-Cathedral Foundation, which was set up in 2001 to ensure the church's and museumโ€™s conservation. Closures

The Museum is currently closed for its extension and refurbishment. The 'Meet Caravaggio' docu-drama is temporarily unavailable for viewing due to works in the area. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Allegoria is coming for our curiosity as an experiment, created to explore the limits of preserving art through art itself. Devised by RECOOP and curated by Andrea Depasquale, this initiative stands as an ode to humanity that chooses to cure and create.

On the 1st of November, Allegoriaโ€™s final act will be displayed in the Chapel of the Langue of Aragon, Catalonia and Navarre at St Johnโ€™s Co-Cathedral, with the collaboration and support of The St Johnโ€™s Co-Cathedral Foundation and its teams contributing to its realisation.

๐ŸŽถ A full house for a special evening!

Last Friday, ๐ถ๐‘Ž๐‘ ๐‘Ž๐‘™ ๐‘๐‘ข๐‘œ๐‘ฃ๐‘œ: ๐ธ๐‘โ„Ž๐‘œ๐‘’๐‘  ๐‘œ๐‘“ ๐น๐‘œ๐‘ข๐‘Ÿ ๐ถ๐‘’๐‘›๐‘ก๐‘ข๐‘Ÿ๐‘–๐‘’๐‘  brought together performers and audiences to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the foundation of Paola.

The concert was held in the presence of H.E. the President of Malta, Myriam Spiteri Debono, alongside other distinguished guests and members of the public who joined in the celebrations.

Well done to the organisers and all the performers for putting together such a wonderful evening, and thank you to everyone who joined us! ๐Ÿ‘

๐Œ๐š๐ ๐ง๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ญ by the St Paul Choral Society will be bringing Maltese sacred music to St John's, with works by Benigno Zerafa and Francesco Azopardi. The concert will include Zerafaโ€™s ๐‘ƒ๐‘œ๐‘ ๐‘ข๐‘– ๐ด๐‘‘๐‘–๐‘ข๐‘ก๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ๐‘–๐‘ข๐‘š, composed for the grand entry of Grand Master De Rohan into Mdina Cathedral and performed exactly 250 years to the day after its completion.

This celebration of music is in support of a good cause, with all ticket revenue going directly to Hospice Malta ๐ŸŒป
