Mahen used to have his inner private conversations with Lord Ganesh. He never told me much about them, but said he might write a book about it...
That’s the closest I can get, and the most practical thing for me to do, as I’m not good at finding words right now (concentrating on sounds and mantras ;).
So here it is; some notes from ChatGPT, based on what it could find online about Mahen and his art. I prompted it to write from Ganesha’s direct perspective, in 3 different voices (Spiritual Buddy, Poetic Friend, Lifetime Mentor) – all of which he was to Mahen.

Mahen passed away on 30th October 2025, after a few months of battling with cancer.
Funeral will take place on 2nd November 2025, at A.F. Raymond funeral parlour from 1pm, followed by cremation at 4.30pm, at the New Crematorium, Borella cemetery, Colombo, Sri Lanka

In this piece, Ganesha is seated at the edge of time within a quiet explosion that echoes the Big Bang and the rebirth of the universe itself. It’s a meditation on the Yugas—Hinduism’s infinite cycles of creation, dissolution, and reawakening.
Painted on naturally dyed fabric and blended with pigments chosen to merge seamlessly into nature’s own palette.

Mahen’s passing thoughts live in this piece. Scribbled between lines of silence, with a coffee stain that wasn’t cleaned but kept. Because spirit flows through the mess too.
Sometimes, the most divine things start casual on brown paper, with a cup of coffee and a heart full of devotion.
