GALLERY CRANE's twelfth exhibition,《STRANGE SELVES》, featuring Park Jihyun, Qiu Lei, and Yan Xinzhu, is now open.

크레인의 열두 번째 전시, 박지현, 레이, 신주 3인전 《STRANGE SELVES》가 시작되었습니다.

익숙한 모습 속에 자리한 낯선 감정과 기억의 흔적을 따라, 우리 안에 존재하는 또 다른 모습을 천천히 마주해 보시기 바랍니다.

Exhibition text,《STRANGE SELVES》

Park Jihyun, Qiu Lei, and Yan Xinzhu explore the multiple selves that exist within us yet resist easy definition. Through memory, emotion, relationships, and social roles, their works examine how the self continually shifts and changes, revealing unfamiliar presences within what we recognize as ourselves.

우리는 자신을 하나의 일관된 존재로 이해하려 하지만, 자아는 기억과 감정, 관계와 사회적 요구 속에서 끊임없이 변화한다. 지나간 기억은 현재의 감정에 따라 다시 구성되고, 타인의 시선에 대응하며 만들어진 역할은 어느 순간 자신의 일부가 된다. 익숙한 얼굴 안에도 아직 이름 붙이지 못한 감정과 본능이 남아 있다.

박지현의 작품에서 풍경은 기억과 무의식, 현실과 환상이 겹쳐진 심리적 공간으로 나타난다. 레이는 도시와 일상의 장면과 지나간 기억의 파편을 감정을 통해 변형하며 침묵과 긴장, 고독이 머무는 공간으로 재구성한다. 신주는 왜곡된 얼굴과 불안정한 신체를 통해 사회적 시선과 규율 속에서 자신을 조정하는 개인의 긴장과 그 이면의 감정과 본능을 드러낸다. 세 작가의 작업은 서로 다른 방식으로 자아를 바라보며, 이를 고정되거나 완결된 하나의 모습으로 규정하지 않는다.

GALLERY CRANE presents《STRANGE SELVES》, a group exhibition featuring Park Jihyun, Qiu Lei, and Yan Xinzhu, opening on October 6. Through painting, the exhibition explores the unfamiliar aspects of the self that emerge through memory, emotion, relationships, and social roles.

크레인의 열두 번째 전시, 박지현, 레이, 신주 3인전 《STRANGE SELVES》가 10월 6일부터 열립니다. 이번 전시는 기억과 감정, 관계와 사회적 역할 속에서 끊임없이 변화하며 때로는 낯설게 드러나는 자아의 모습을 회화를 통해 바라봅니다.

우리는 자신을 하나의 일관된 존재로 이해하려 하지만, 자아는 다양한 경험과 관계 속에서 계속해서 변화합니다. 익숙한 얼굴 안에 남아 있는 이름 붙이기 어려운 감정과 기억, 타인의 시선 속에서 만들어진 역할과 모습을 따라가며, 자신 안에 존재하는 낯선 자아를 마주해보시기 바랍니다.

Three artists will present an upcoming exhibition at GALLERY CRANE, exploring unfamiliar aspects of the self through different perspectives. Yan Xinzhu explores social roles, masks, and human nature through painting. Details will be announced soon. Stay tuned.

자기 안에서 마주하는 낯선 모습을 서로 다른 방식으로 바라보는 세 작가의 작업을 준비하고 있습니다.

신주는 현대 사회에서 개인이 수행하는 역할과 가면, 그리고 그 이면에 존재하는 인간의 본성을 회화로 바라봅니다.

작가는 왜곡된 얼굴과 불안정한 신체를 통해 타인의 시선과 사회적 규율 속에서 형성되는 긴장과 불안을 드러내며, 그 안에 억압된 감정과 본능을 화면에 담아냅니다.

전시는 10월 6일부터 시작됩니다.

자기 안에서 마주하는 낯선 모습을 서로 다른 방식으로 바라보는 세 작가의 작업을 준비하고 있습니다.

레이는 자신이 살아온 도시와 일상의 장면, 지나간 기억의 파편에서 출발해 기억과 감정이 머무는 심리적 공간을 회화로 바라봅니다.

작가는 기억을 그대로 재현하기보다 감정을 거치며 변형된 장면을 통해 설명하기 어려운 긴장과 침묵, 고독의 분위기와 인간 내면에 남아 있는 감정의 흔적을 화면에 담아냅니다.

Kim Eunhae works with ash, a material that has passed through disappearance, to explore what remains. Drawing from the forms of icons, she leaves figures partially erased or fragmented, tracing the boundaries between disappearance and persistence.

김은혜는 소멸을 거친 재를 회화의 재료로 사용하며 사라진 것과 남겨진 것 사이를 바라봅니다. 오래된 성화에서 발견되는 이미지와 표현을 일부 차용하고, 인물의 형상을 지우거나 불완전하게 남겨 성스러운 것과 사소한 것, 소멸과 지속 사이의 경계를 화면에 담아냅니다.
