‘Superbloom’은 작가가 오랫동안 이어온 개념적 탐구에서 보다 열린 회화적 언어로 나아가는 전환을 보여주는 전시입니다. 이번 신작들은 대규모 설치와 복합적 이미지 구성에서 이어온 관심을 회화 안에서 풀어내며, 색과 반복, 변주를 통해 회화 자체의 가능성을 새롭게 탐구합니다.

‘Superbloom’ presents new paintings that mark a shift in Cloquet‘s practice toward a more open pictorial language. The works build on her sustained engagement with large-scale installation and complex image construction, now channeled into the medium of painting. Through color, repetition, and variation, Cloquet investigates what painting itself can hold, producing works that move between the structural and the sensory.

‘Sun Rose’에서는 Amanda Baldwin의 최근 회화 연작을 소개합니다. 입자감 있는 표면 처리, 반복되는 패턴, 층위감 있는 질감 표현은 초기부터 최근 작업까지 꾸준히 이어지는 요소로, 신작에서는 이러한 특징이 풍경 구조와 더욱 긴밀하게 결합됩니다. 작가에게 색은 대상을 묘사하는 수단이 아니라 화면의 리듬과 공간감을 만드는 요소로 작동하며, Baldwin의 회화가 풍경이면서 동시에 추상으로 읽히는 것은 이러한 색채 탐구에서 비롯됩니다.

‘Sun Rose’ presents a recent body of work by Amanda Baldwin. Grainy textures, repeated patterns, and layered surfaces have remained consistent elements from her early work to the present, and in her new paintings these qualities become more closely integrated with the structure of the landscape. For Baldwin, color is not merely a descriptive tool, but a primary compositional element that shapes rhythm and spatial depth within the image. It is through this sustained exploration of color that her paintings come to be read as both landscape and abstraction.

Cloquet은 사진을 기반으로 회화와 콜라주를 결합해, 실존하지 않지만 실존하는 것처럼 보이는 이미지를 만들어내는 작가입니다. 이번 전시는 사진 속 기억보다 더 적은 수의 목련이 피어 있던 경험에서 출발한 ‘Magnolia’ 시리즈를 중심으로, 최근 작업의 변화를 소개합니다.

Working with photographic source material, Cloquet combines painting and collage to produce scenes that register how perception is mediated and remain open to shifts in interpretation. Centered on the ‘Magnolia’ series, ‘Superbloom’ presents a recent painterly expansion in her practice.

이번 전시는 Amanda Baldwin의 최근 회화 연작을 소개하며, 작업의 새로운 전개를 보여줍니다. 정물과 풍경, 구상과 추상을 오가며 Baldwin은 색채와 구성, 표면이 긴밀하게 맞물리는 독자적인 회화 언어를 구축해 왔습니다.

중첩된 형태와 반복적으로 변주되는 모티프, 깊이감 있는 화면 구성은 관찰과 상상, 친밀함과 확장감이 공존하는 회화를 만들어냅니다. 오랫동안 이어져 온 이러한 조형적 관심은 신작에서 한층 응축된 형태로 드러나며, 보다 선명한 구조와 밀도, 강한 회화적 에너지로 확장됩니다.

Bringing together a new body of works, the exhibition marks a significant development in Baldwin’s practice, offering her most focused presentation to date. Moving between still life and landscape, and between representation and abstraction, Baldwin has developed a distinct painterly language in which color, composition, and surface work in close dialogue.

Through layered forms and rhythmic motifs, Baldwin builds compositions where careful observation and pure imagination coexist. In the artist’s new works, these elements come into sharper focus, with greater structural clarity, density, and painterly energy.

대구미술관의 기획전시 ‘서화무진’에 김정욱 작가가 참여합니다.

대구미술관 개관 15주년을 기념하는 이번 특별전은 김기창, 박래현, 서세옥, 이응노 등 전통 한국화의 계보에서 출발하여, 김지평, 박그림 등 동시대 감각으로 확장된 한국화 기반 작업까지, 시·서·화의 흐름이 어떻게 이어져 왔는지를 조망하는 전시입니다.

Jungwook Kim is participating in ‘When the Brush Moves, the World Continues’, an exhibition currently on view at the Daegu Art Museum.

Presented in celebration of the museum‘s 15th anniversary, this special exhibition traces the roots of Korean ink painting. Beginning with foundational figures such as Kim Ki Chang, Lee Ungno, and Suh Seok, it extends to contemporary artists including Kim Jipyeong and Grim Park, exploring how the intertwined traditions of poetry, calligraphy, and painting continue to be reinterpreted today.
