BOAN1942

Located in the center of Seocheon, next to Gyeongbok Palace, Boan 1942 is a hub for all forms of cultural producers who participate in the contemporary culture today. Boan1942 functions as a cultural platform that both shelters and explores the ecology of creative practice in relationships to society, the individual, life and art.

통의동 2-1번지 '통의동 보안여관'은 서정주, 김동리 선생들이 기거하면서 한국의 근대 문학동인지 '시인부락'을 만든 80년된 여관이며 현재는 복합문화 공간으로 활용되고 있습니다.

Vision “ 통의동 보안여관(BOAN1942)청와대, 경복궁, 서촌을 중심으로 에서 정치, 문화, 역사의 중심에 있다. 도시의 기억을 지워버리고야 마는 오늘 서울의 도심속에서 '통의동 보안여관'은 무수한 서사적 레이어를 간직하고 아직도 살아있는 상징적 공간이다. '통의동 보안여관'은 무한히 열려있는 공간인 동시에 사적이고 은밀한 공간이다. '통의동 보안여관‘의 정체성은 2007년부터 문화예술이라는 새로운 투숙객들로 이어지고 있으며, 그 80여년의 서사적 레이어에 새로운 문화예술의 담론들이 더 해질것이다.”
