1983년 당시 문화의 불모지나 다름없던 강남에 자리를 잡아 근현대 작가 위주의 화랑 경영에서 탈피하기 위하여 젊고 역량 있는 작가들의 발굴에 힘쓰는 한편, 전통적인 모티브를 간직하면서도 세련되고 깊이 있는 현대적인 작품들을 언제나 박여숙 화랑에서 만날 수 있다. 한국미술을 이끌어가는 국내 주요 작가들 뿐 아니라 크리스토, 패트릭 휴즈, 제니퍼 바틀렛, 프레 일겐, 프랭크 스텔라, 나이젤 홀, 해리 게리츠, 이고르 미토라이, 우고 리바, 반지, 피후안 등 해외의 세계적인 대가의 수준 있는 전시회를 개최하고 있다.
