김희천, 이하령, 홍승택으로 구성된 컬렉티브 2mc1dj는 가상의 언더그라운드 클럽 '웨이츠(Waits)'를 배경으로 한 세 편의 사운드 극 〈사건 볼륨 3〉(2026)을 선보입니다. 각각의 사운드극은 공연의 전후라는 구조를 공유하며 서로 다른 서사를 펼쳐 보입니다.

𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘝𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘮𝘦 3 (2026) is a series of three sound plays by 2mc1dj, a collective made up of Heecheon Kim, Haryung Lee, and Seungtaek Hong. Set in Waits, a fictional underground club, the three plays share a structure that unfolds before and after a performance, while each develops a distinct narrative.

𝘔𝘦𝘪𝘳𝘰 𝘒𝘰𝘪𝘻𝘶𝘮𝘪: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘦, 𝘢𝘯 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘷𝘦 brings together works spanning charcoal, sculpture, three-channel video, and virtual reality, to examine the afterlives of war and nationalism in postwar Japan, focusing on how histories of violence are remembered, carried, and transmitted across generations.

함양아 작가의 〈잠〉(2015–2016)은 재난 상황 속 사회 시스템의 작동 방식과 그 안에서 개인들이 겪는 두려움과 불안을 '잠'으로 은유한 2채널 비디오 설치 작업입니다. 2014년 한국 사회를 뒤흔든 비극적 사건을 마주한 작업이자, 위기의 시대에 '작가로서 무엇을 해야 하는가'라는 질문에서 출발한 예술적 실천으로, ‘정의되지 않은 파노라마’ 프로젝트의 시작점이 된 작업이기도 합니다.

전시는 이번주 일요일(4일)을 끝으로 종료됩니다.

Yang Ah Ham's 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱 is a two-channel video installation that uses sleep as a metaphor for the operation of social systems in disaster situations—and for the fear and anxiety experienced by individuals within them. The work confronts a tragic event that shook Korean society in 2014; it also became the starting point for Undefined Panorama as an artistic practice responding to the question of "what one should do as an artist" in an age of crisis.

The exhibition closes this Sunday, the 4th. Don't miss your last chance to see it!

아트선재센터 아트홀은 변화를 앞두고 있습니다. 미술관의 큐레토리얼 실천을 보다 실험적으로 펼치고 공간의 가능성을 확장하기 위해, 아트홀의 무대는 그동안 축적해 온 역사를 뒤로하고 사라집니다. 김무영 작가는 이에 주목하여, 무대와 함께 철거될 예정인 ‘곡선형 계단’을 같은 크기로 복각한 신작 〈도짐〉을 선보입니다. 무대를 오르내리기 위한 이 계단은 전시 중 관람객이 사용하지만, 정작 공연 중에는 사용하지 않는 사물입니다. 작가는 공연장의 무대로 쓰여 왔으나 곧 사라질 구조물을 재제작하는 과정을 통해, 아트홀의 시간을 하나의 사물로 응축해 보존하고자 합니다.

Art Sonje Center's Art Hall is about to undergo a change. To carry out the museum's curatorial practice more experimentally and expand the possibilities of the space, the Art Hall's stage will disappear, leaving behind the history it has accumulated. Taking note of this, artist Muyeong Kim presents a new work, Backslide, a full-scale replica of the "curved staircase" set to be demolished along with the stage. Used by visitors to move up to and down from the stage, this staircase is, in fact, never used during actual performances. The artist regards the staircase as an object that condenses
the temporal dimension of a building that was once used as a performance venue and is soon to disappear.

현재 아트선재센터에서 《함양아: 정의되지 않은 파노라마》를 선보이고 있는 함양아 작가는 2010년에도 아트선재센터에서 개인전을 개최한 바 있습니다. 당시 《함양아: 형용사적 삶 > 넌센스 팩토리》는 동시대를 살아가는 개인들의 삶을 다큐멘터리와 픽션의 경계에서 관찰하며, 가상의 공장 ‘넌센스 팩토리’를 통해 현대 사회 속 개별 존재들의 소외와 욕망을 그려낸 전시였습니다.

지난 전시가 개인의 삶이 지닌 다채로운 ‘형용사’들을 통해 존재의 개별성과 보편성을 탐구했다면, 이번 전시는 금융·정치·기술·노동 등 거대한 사회 구조 속 데이터를 추적하며 인간과 비인간이 함께 살아가는 ‘순환’의 세계관을 제안합니다.

아트선재센터 더북스에서는 2010년 출간된 《함양아: 형용사적 삶 > 넌센스 팩토리》전시 연계 도록도 만나보실 수 있습니다.

Yang Ah Ham, whose solo exhibition 𝘠𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘩 𝘏𝘢𝘮: 𝘜𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘗𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘢 is currently on view, previously held a solo exhibition at the Art Sonje Center back in 2010.

That earlier exhibition, 𝘠𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘩 𝘏𝘢𝘮: 𝘈𝘥𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺, was the final chapter of her LIFE trilogy, tracking individuals in contemporary society through video, drawing, sculpture, objects, and performance — set within a fictional ”Nonsense Factory“ where people, despite their dreams and hopes, experience isolation again and again.

While that exhibition explored the individuality and universality of contemporary lives through the diverse ”adjectives“ of one‘s existence, this new exhibition traces data across the vast structures of society — finance, politics, technology, and labor — to propose a ”cyclical“ worldview in which humans and non-humans coexist together.

오늘(9월 25일)부터 아트선재센터가 기획으로 참여한 《하종현: 회고전(Ha Chong-Hyun: Retrospective)》이 미국 샌프란시스코 아시아 미술관(Asian Art Museum)에서 열립니다. 지난해 아트선재센터에서 열린 《하종현 5975》가 하종현 작가의 초기 작업(1959–1975)에 나타난 재료와 물성에 대한 끊임없는 실험을 집중 조명했다면, 이번 전시는 처음 공개되는 2025–2026년 신작을 포함해 60여 년에 걸친 하종현의 작업 궤적을 폭넓게 살펴봅니다. 전시는 2027년 1월 25일까지 이어집니다.

Opening today (September 25) at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, 𝘏𝘢 𝘊𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘨-𝘏𝘺𝘶𝘯: 𝘙𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 is organized with the curatorial participation of Art Sonje Center. Where last year’s 𝘏𝘢 𝘊𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘨-𝘏𝘺𝘶𝘯 5975 at Art Sonje Center focused on the artist‘s relentless experimentation with material and materiality in his early work (1959–1975), this exhibition takes a broader view of more than six decades of Ha’s practice, including new works from 2025–2026 shown for the first time. On view through January 25, 2027.
