A one-of-a-kind Satsuma button depicting the Dutch windmill of Batavia, Illinois celebrating this year’s show theme “A Harvest of Buttons on the Illinois Prairie”. The windmill is in the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1850, and restored under the guidance of a third generation Dutch windmill maker. It symbolizes the essence of prairie life and the enduritng spirit of the land.
Adorned by golden ears of corn and an intricate arabesque border with 3 tiny buttons in corners, this button echoes the movement of wind and the forces of nature and human ingenuity, intertwined.
Thank you so much, Kelly Provost.
