Takahiro Iwasaki’s "Reflection Model (Perfect Bliss)" (2010-12) has been selected from the collection of QUEENSLAND ART GALLERY | GALLERY OF MODERN ART (QAGOMA) and will be presented in the exhibition "Rising Voices: Contemporary Art from Asia, Australia and the Pacific", held at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London. Organized as a landmark collaboration between QAGOMA and the V&A, this major touring exhibition introduces diverse practices in contemporary art from Asia, Australia and the Pacific. From the thousands of works QAGOMA has acquired through the Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, Iwasaki’s work will be presented as one of the important pieces shaping the context of the exhibition. 永田康祐の個展「Suddenly This Overview」が国際交流基金シドニー日本文化センターで本日開幕しました。
The 5th Floorのディレクター岩田智哉氏のキュレーションによる本展では、ニューサウスウェールズ州カウラ市にある日本人戦争墓地およびカウラ日本庭園でのリサーチに基づいた新作が展示されます。カウラは、多くの命が失われた捕虜脱走事件の舞台として知られています。永田は本展を通して、目を背けられてきたこの地のできごとにも真摯に向き合い、この街の複雑な歴史をたどります。

Kosuke Nagata’s solo exhibition “Suddenly This Overview” opens today! Curated by Tomoya Iwata (Director of The 5th Floor, a curatorial space in Tokyo), this exhibition features Nagata’s new works based on his on-site research of the Japanese War Cemetery and the Japanese Garden in Cowra, New South Wales. Cowra is known as the site of the largest prisoner of war breakout in modern military history, which led to numerous deaths. Through this exhibition, Nagata attempts to trace the town’s multi-layered history, closely examining each gaze that was once directed toward this land, as well as those that never were.

On Saturday, May 9, Tadasu Takamine’s "God Bless America" will be screened as part of the video program of CYFEST 17.
The work was presented at the Arsenale during the Venice Biennale in 2003, and its return to Venice amid today’s increasingly tense global situation carries a significance that goes beyond a mere re-presentation.
The program is curated by the renowned curator Barbara London , who is known for founding the video-media exhibition and collection programs at MoMA.
