T&Y Projectsでは本日よりアメリカで活動する作家倉田裕也( Hiroya Kurata )の日本では4年ぶりとなる個展「贅沢な生活」を開催しています。

「贅沢な生活」
最近、自分が長年住んだ街を離れたこともあり生活の質について考える様になった。田舎に住む友人を訪ねたり、都会の中に潜む小さな自然に触れたりする中、住む場所と生活の質とはあまり結びつかないのかなと、ごく当たり前のことを思う。贅沢な生活と聞くと色々思い描くが自分にとっての小さな贅沢を探す生活をしていきたいと願いも込めて。

倉田裕也（くらたひろや）
1980年大阪府生まれ。高校より渡米し、2003年にニューヨークのパーソンズ美術大学を卒業。以降、アート関係の仕事をしながらアメリカにて制作活動中。直近では、香港のCarl Kostyálでの個展、Soho House Tokyoへの作品提供、ニューヨークのTurn Galleryでの二人展などがある。日本では4年ぶりとなる個展となる。

「A Meaningful Life」
Leaving my long-time home has given me a chance to reconsider what quality of life really means. Spending time with a friend in the country, or discovering pockets of nature in the city, taught me that your surroundings don't automatically change your well-being. "A grand life" means different things to everyone, but my hope is to focus on discovering the small, personal pleasures in my own everyday routine.

Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1980, he moved to the United States during high school and graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York in 2003. Since then, he has continued his artistic practice in the United States while working in the arts.

Kurata Hiroya

Recent highlights include a solo exhibition at Carl Kostyál in Hong Kong, works commissioned for Soho House Tokyo, and a two-person exhibition at Turn Gallery in New York. This exhibition at T&Y Projects marks his first solo exhibition in Japan in four years.

PROFILE: Michael Cherno
1992年、ウクライナ・キーウ生まれ。建築やグラフィティアートなど様々なバックグランドを持つアーティスト。伝統的な様式で描いた風景画や静物画を、自らスプレーペイントを用いて数秒で破壊する「アカデミック・ヴァンダリズム」という独自のスタイルを確立している。現在はカナダ・トロントに在住。

Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 1992. An artist with diverse backgrounds including architecture and gra ti art. He has established a unique style called
“Academic Vandalism,” where he paints landscapes and still lifes in traditional styles only to destroy them within seconds using his own spray paint. He currently resides in Toronto, Canada.

 あわせて前日3月12日にはMichael Cherno氏を囲んでのオープニングレセプションもございます。また翌日よりローンチされるuniform experiment× Michael Chernoのコラボレーションを記念したライブペインティングも行いますのでお時間ございましたら是非ともお立ち寄りください。会期中の皆様のご来場を心よりお待ちしております。

Views from Michele Fletcher’s solo exhibition, Time Left Green. The show continues at T&Y Projects until Saturday, 20th December.

Executed over the last four years, the exhibition charts Fletcher’s evolving engagement with the medium. Intuitive and profoundly expressive, her luminous compositions meditate on the beguiling harmony of organic forms, as well as provoking challenging questions around humanity’s shifting relationship with the natural world.

The Unibrow: A Post-Juxtapoz Story at 30, Part 2

Coinciding with the launch of The Unibrow magazine, T&Y Projects will host The Unibrow: A Post-Juxtapoz Story at 30, Part 2, an exhibition curated by Juxtapoz editor and The Unibrow co-founder, Evan Pricco. The show marks the last years of Juxtapoz magazine and the beginning of a new arts biannual, The Unibrow.

The exhibition is seen as a bridge between cultures, a nuanced look at the long-standing conversation between Japan and California in both conceptual ways and direct narratives. The Unibrow's origins are in the bringing together of histories and stories, both cultural and visual, and the artist's reflected in the show have confronted and conversed with the idea of cultural bridges and connections.

The artists in the show include Barry McGee, Jean Jullien, Sachi Moskowitz, Haroshi, Sickid, Yusuke Hanai, Ozzie Juarez, CR Stecyk III, Ayako Rokkaku, Adele Renault, Julian Pace and Susanne Melanie Berry, Geoff McFetridge.

Each artist has a history with both Japanese and California cultures, whether through skate and surf culture, anime and manga, craft and sport.
