Profile:
Paris （1974年生まれ）は、英国のEast YorkshireのKingston Upon Hull出身。ファッションを学び、その後、様々なスタイルのライティングと独特の色彩感覚でグラフィティ・アートの探求を続けている。2011年にリリースされたColdplayのアルバム「Mylo Xyloto」にグラフィティ・アーティストとして参加し、アルバム・カバーから、ステージセットまで、長期にColdplayとのヴィジュアル制作に参加し、世界中にParisの名前と作品スタイルが広まった。彼は単独でも世界各地でライブ・ペイントや展示を行い、作品は多くの国際的なコレクションに収められている。現在は、英国、ブリストルをベースに幅広い活動を展開中。

+81 Gallery - Tokyo is currently hosting an exhibition of works by Bristol-based graffiti artist Paris on the 1st floor.

Profile:
Paris (born 1974) is from Kingston Upon Hull in East Yorkshire, England. After studying fashion, he has continued to explore graffiti art through various styles of lettering and his unique sense of color. He contributed as a graffiti artist to Coldplay’s 2011 album “Mylo Xyloto”, participating in visual production with the band over an extended period—from the album cover to stage sets—which helped spread Paris’s name and artistic style worldwide. He also performs live painting and holds exhibitions independently around the globe, and his works are included in numerous international collections. He is currently based in Bristol, UK, where he continues to pursue a wide range of creative activities.

Profile:
Kate Gibbはシルクスクリーンに情熱を捧げるアーティストで、現在はロンドン北西部のプリント・スタジオで制作活動を行っています。初期に学んだプリント・テキスタイルの課程が、彼女に本来備わっていた色彩、形状、パターンへの情熱をさらに深め、それが今も彼女の作品の基盤となっています。彼女がインスピレーションを得ているのは、プロセス重視のプリント手法であり、このアプローチがもたらす偶然や予期せぬ出来事、そして「嬉しいアクシデント」を積極的に取り入れています。この自由で遊び心にあふれ、探求心旺盛な姿勢は、主に直感と独学によって築かれた彼女の制作活動に反映されています。Kate Gibbは音楽を題材にした作品で知られており、特に「ザ・ケミカル・ブラザーズ」との長年にわたる関係が有名です。プリント作品や商業的なイラストレーションの分野に加え、彼女は教育者としても活動しており、最近ではブライトン大学で教鞭をとっています。

+81 Gallery - Tokyo is currently hosting an exhibition of works by Kate Gibb, who creates a distinctive world through her silkscreen artworks, on the 2nd floor.

Profile:
Kate is a silkscreen obsessive, currently creating from her makeshift print studio in north-west London. Her early studies in Printed Textiles fueled her inherent love of color, shape & pattern which continue to provide the base to her works. The kind of printing she is inspired by is process led and utilizes chance, hiccups & the happy accidents that this unorthodox approach throws her way. This informal, playful & explorative manner reflects on her practice as predominantly intuitive & self-taught. In essence she is known for her music-based artworks, predominantly for her long-standing relationship with 'The Chemical Brothers' Alongside her print-based artworks & the more commercial illustration side to her practice, she is also an educator. Most recently at Brighton University.

+81 Gallery - Tokyo will host an exhibition of works by Paris, a graffiti artist based in Bristol, UK, starting Wednesday, April 29. Paris is known worldwide for creating visuals for British rock band Coldplay’s album covers and tour stage sets. This exhibition will feature a range of works, including Paris’s original, richly colored, abstract graffiti pieces; vinyl records with graffiti covers designed by Paris for Coldplay; and prints of graffiti art created in collaboration between Coldplay members and Paris.

この度+81 Gallery - Kyotoでは“From where to What return?” SHINTAROIWASA の個展を行います。前回のショーでは、塩を雪に見立て、作品とギャラリーの床一面を真っ白に覆うインスタレーションを発表し反響を呼びました。本展では雪よりもさらに微細な粒子である砂鉄を用い、目に見えない力によって集まり、離れ、再び循環していく物質の振る舞いを提示する作品群をスペース全体を使い真っ黒な空間に開いた様に浮かぶ様なインスタレーションを見せてくれます。

At +81 Gallery – Tokyo, we are currently holding an exhibition celebrating the release of “+81 VOL.96 The Future of Book Design and Publishing issue,” starting Saturday, December 13.

This issue explores the theme “The Future of Book Design and Publishing,” featuring book designers who challenge the possibilities of books through experimental approaches, independent publishers who share their local cultures with the world, and a bookbinding studio that engage with the act of bookmaking on a daily basis. Though their positions differ, all of these creators confront the medium of the book head-on from their own perspectives. The issue conveys their gaze and passion, allowing readers to feel the makers’ intentions firsthand, while also reexamining the value of preserving ideas in book form in an age when information is instantly consumed and disappears online.

The exhibition showcases works also featured in the magazine, including the 25th anniversary issue of WERK Magazine by Theseus Chan, “Sagmeister: Made You Look” by Stefan Sagmeister, and “FUSE 1–20” by Neville Brody and Jon Wozencroft. In addition, large-scale tapestry prints made from selected pages of the magazine are on display, offering visitors an immersive experience of the physical expressions created by designers who engage directly with the form of the book itself.
