本展の絵画は、はっきりとした像を前面に押し出すのではなく、色彩の重なりの中に静かな気配をたたえています。長年にわたる制作の中で、「平和」という主題が繰り返し扱われてきました。本展の「Rêve」シリーズに見られる静かな画面もまた、そうした関心と無関係ではないように思われます。その穏やかさの中に、持続してきた意志が感じられます。

Esther Okada Art Gallery is pleased to present Rêve, a solo exhibition by Koji Moroi.

Born in 1952 in Yamaguchi, Moroi has lived and worked in France for decades. Beginning with printmaking, his practice has evolved into a sustained exploration of painterly expression.

“Rêve” (dream) reflects the elusive yet tangible quality of his work. Layers of color and line drift across the surface, never settling into fixed forms, but instead hovering as something quietly felt.

Rather than defining images, his paintings open a space of perception—where forms emerge, dissolve, and reappear. This delicate balance recalls the Japanese notion of ma, an interval or pause that holds both stillness and tension.

His work captures fleeting moments within perception.

エステルオカダアートギャラリーでは、2026年4月11日（土）から4月26日（日）まで、師井公二による個展「Rêve」を開催いたします。

1952年山口県に生まれ、フランスに渡り制作を続けてきた師井公二は、版画制作を出発点に、長年にわたり絵画表現を探求してきました。

本展タイトル「Rêve」（夢）は、師井の作品に通底する、捉えがたくも確かに感覚に残るイメージの在り方を示しています。幾層にも重ねられた色彩と線は、通過の痕跡として画面に現れ、像を明確に定着させることなく、触れることのできない気配として漂わせます。それは、見るというよりも、むしろ静かに感じ取られるイメージです。

反復される線や、滲むような色の重なりは、時間の層を内包しながら画面に微細な揺らぎをもたらし、像を固定することなく、常に変化し続ける状態へと開いていきます。そこでは、イメージは鑑賞者の感覚の中で立ち上がり、やがてほどけていきます。また、画面における余白の扱いは、像を囲い込むための空間ではなく、気配を受け止める場として機能しています。その静けさは、日本的な美意識にも通じる間（ま）の感覚を想起させ、描かれたものと描かれないものとの関係の中に、繊細な緊張を生み出します。

フランスでの制作を通じて培われた感性は、シャンパーニュの泡のように立ち現れては消えていく、瞬間的で繊細な現象とも響き合います。師井は、そうした束の間のきらめきをすくい上げ、絵画として定着させてきました。

本展では、「Rêve」と題されたシリーズを中心に、師井が一貫して追い求めてきた、夢のように曖昧でありながら確かに触れうる感覚の領域を提示します。静謐な緊張を湛えた画面は、見る者を穏やかに引き込み、その内側にとどめます。この機会にぜひ、師井公二が描き出す、気配に満ちた絵画の世界をご高覧ください。

Emika Hosoi — STILLTHING

Emika Hosoi’s sculptures sit somewhere between use and refusal.
Composed of iron, industrial parts, 3D-printed elements, urethane, and fabric, her works evoke familiar objects while quietly undoing their functions.

In STILLTHING, Hosoi brings together a series of works shaped by what she calls “forms without locus”—objects that seem unanchored from clear roles, meanings, or positions. What remains is not function, but presence: a condition in which things simply exist, without explanation.

If earlier works hinted at movement, this exhibition turns toward stillness—not as inactivity, but as a way of heightening attention. Materials pull against each other: hard and soft, structural and tactile, stable and ambiguous. These subtle tensions unsettle perception, prompting a slower, more attentive way of looking.

Rather than asking what an object does, Hosoi’s work asks what it is to be.
