ゴシキヒワ、サギ、セキレイ、イヌワシなど、さまざまな鳥たちが描かれた《Aviary(鳥舎)》。

Icarus

Standing in front of Icarus, Ricardo is surrounded by one of the central works from his solo exhibition, THE SKY PROMISED NOTHING.

In Greek mythology, Icarus flew into the sky with wings made by his father, Daedalus, but flew too close to the sun, causing the wax holding his wings together to melt and leading to his fall.

For Ricardo, the story of Icarus speaks to something deeply human—the desire to reach beyond what we were never given wings for.

Icarus features two different herons: a dark blue heron represented in the figure’s wings, and a white heron appearing as a ghost-like presence.

For Ricardo, this contrast represents duality.

The good and the bad. Two opposing sides.

《Icarus》を背に立つリカルド。
個展「THE SKY PROMISED NOTHING」を象徴する作品のひとつとともに。

ギリシャ神話に登場するイカロス。父ダイダロスが作った翼で空へ飛び立つも、太陽に近づきすぎたことで翼を留めていた蝋が溶け、墜落してしまう物語です。

リカルドにとって、イカロスの物語は、人間の根源的な欲望にも通じています。
人は、ときに本来なら手の届かないものへ手を伸ばそうとする。翼を持たない人間が、それでも空を目指したように。

《Icarus》には、2種類の異なるサギが登場します。
人物の翼として描かれるダークブルーのサギと、幽霊のような存在として現れる白いサギ。

リカルドにとって、この対比は「二面性」を表しています。

善と悪、相反する二つの側面。
