Presenting to you the next edition of Takumi Next. Located at Supermama The Museum Store @ National Museum of Singapore!

Takumi Next is a POP-UP showcase of the next generation of traditional craftsmen from Japan. The term "Takumi"(匠), refers to an "artisan" or "craftsman" in Japanese. As social norms and lifestyles evolve, we ponder the future of traditional crafts and the existential role of the craftsmen through a fine selection of everyday goods. Supermama will present the works of 50 makers from all over Japan.

Through the eyes of these craftsmen, you can get a glimpse into the inner workings of a nation, Japan’s history and the industries that drive its economy.

Takumi Next opens daily from 16th Sep to 16th Nov, 10am to 7pm.

It is the work of scraping the lid of the teapot.
Dry the teapot body and lid, and shave to fit the body properly.

If you scrape too much, the lid will not fit properly. Carefully but sharply, rhythmically, sharpen!

After shaving, unglazed (900 degrees)
Then, it is completed with painting, glaze coating, and firing with main firing (1300 degrees).

This year, my father, Ichiro Nakazato, received an award from the Japanese government and reported to the Sasebo City Hall.
And he thanked Sasebo for their support and he presented Sasebo with a Hirado chrysanthemum vase.
We have received support from everyone including Mayor Sagabo Tomonaga.

We were able to talk about Mikawachi ware in a meaningful way. As a kiln, I would like to continue to contribute to the Mikawachi ware production area.
