"YOD Gallery" has been established with the mission to show a new sense of value and expression inside and outside of Japan positively with such assuming artists. We will try to search for a common sense of value all over the world from thoughts of domestic and overseas artists and their works since the art expression tends to be more globalised. We, as one of the primary galleries in Japan, also

review our identity as Japanese afresh by finding artists and works that possess an independent artistic sense that can be exhibited worldwide and aim to grow up together with them.

【YOD Gallery (天王洲) 】

YOD Gallery（東京・天王洲）では、2026年5月8日（金）より6月6日（土）まで、小清水漸個展「ことば」を開催いたします。  小清水漸（1944年・愛媛県生まれ）は、戦後日本美術における重要な動向「もの派」の中心作家として知られています。木や石、紙などの素材を用い、最小限の操作によって「もの」と「空間」の関係を探求してきました。  小清水の制作は、単にかたちをつくる行為ではなく、素材に触れ、その感触や重さ、位置関係を身体的に確かめるプロセスにあります。 この姿勢は立体作品に限らず、ドローイングや言葉の制作にも一貫して見られます。  本展では、愛媛新聞社が発行していた月刊誌「えひめ雑誌」（1988年創刊）において、小清水が手がけた表紙原画とテキスト作品を紹介します。  これらはこれまで紙面上でのみ発表されてきた作品であり、原画として公開される貴重な機会となります。ドローイングと言葉による本シリーズは、小清水の実践を新たな視点から捉え直す機会となるでしょう。ぜひこの機会にご高覧ください。

YOD Gallery (Tennoz, Tokyo) is pleased to present "Word (Kotoba)", a solo exhibition by Susumu Koshimizu, on view from May 8 (Fri) to June 6 (Sat), 2026. 
Born in Ehime Prefecture in 1944, Susumu Koshimizu is recognized as a central figure of Mono-ha, a significant movement in postwar Japanese art. Since the late 1960s, he has explored the relationship between “things” and space through the use of materials such as wood, stone, and paper, employing minimal intervention. Koshimizu’s practice is not simply about creating forms, but about engaging with materials―touching them and physically sensing their texture, weight, and spatial relationships. This approach is evident not only in his sculptural works, but also in his drawings and use of language. This exhibition presents a series of cover drawings and accompanying texts created by Koshimizu for Ehime Magazine, a monthly magazine published by Ehime Shimbun beginning in 1988. These works have previously appeared only in print, making this a rare opportunity to view the original drawings. Through the combination of drawing and language, this series offers a renewed perspective on Koshimizu’s practice.

この度、YOD Galleryでは、グループ展『ハイパーオリエンタル』-キャラクターマトリクス-を開催いたします。

歴史的に「オリエンタル」という概念は、主に西洋を中心とした外部の視線によって構築され、その中でアジアはしばしば均質的で象徴化されたイメージとして語られてきました。こうした見方の構造は、今日においても文化的認識に無意識のうちに影響を及ぼしています。

本展では、そのような固定化されたイメージを解体し、内側からの視点、そしてグローバルな文脈の中で再構築される文化のあり方に焦点を当てます。

参加する四組の作家は、それぞれの経験や視点をもとに、既存のイメージを揺さぶり、新たな解釈の可能性を提示します。鑑賞者にとって、文化とは何か、そのリアリティとはどこにあるのかを再考する契機となるでしょう。

YOD Gallery is pleased to present the group exhibition “Hyper Oriental: Character Matrix”.

Historically, the concept of the “Oriental” has largely been constructed through an external, Western-centric gaze. Within this framework, Asia has often been portrayed as a homogeneous and symbolically reduced image. Such structures of perception continue, even today, to unconsciously shape cultural understanding.

This exhibition seeks to deconstruct these fixed images and instead focuses on perspectives from within, as well as on the ways in which culture is reconstituted within a global context. The four participating artists, each drawing on their own experiences and viewpoints, challenge established representations and propose new possibilities for interpretation.

The exhibition aims to offer viewers a chance to reconsider what culture is and where its reality truly resides.

YOD Gallery at Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 Duo Exhibition: “Fictions and Fragments”

YOD Galleryは、2026年3月25日より開催される「Art Basel Hong Kong 2026」にて、細江英公と横尾忠則による二人展「Fictions and Fragments」を開催しております。

戦後日本の視覚文化を切り拓いた二人の先駆者。写真と絵画・グラフィックという異なるメディアでありながら、両者は儀式性や神話、心理的緊張を内包した、強度の高いイメージを生み出し続けてきました。

細江英公の「薔薇刑」「鎌鼬」に見られる、身体と記憶をめぐる写真表現。そして、ポップと伝統、輪廻のイメージを交錯させる横尾忠則の混沌とした世界。
本展では、両者の作品が共鳴することで、アイデンティティや時間の感覚が揺らぎ、虚構と変容が立ち上がる特別な空間を創出します。香港にて皆様のご高覧をお待ちしております。

YOD Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in Art Basel Hong Kong 2026, presenting a duo exhibition “Fictions and Fragments” featuring Eikoh Hosoe and Tadanori Yokoo.

As two pioneering figures who shaped postwar Japanese visual culture, Hosoe and Yokoo—though working in distinct media—share a powerful visual language rooted in ritual, myth, and psychological tension.

Hosoe’s iconic series, such as Barakei (Ordeal by Roses) and Kamaitachi, are renowned as pinnacles of photographic expression, exploring the intersections of the body, performance, and collective memory. Meanwhile, Yokoo’s work masterfully merges pop culture, traditional motifs, and concepts of reincarnation into chaotic, dreamlike compositions.

Through their juxtaposition, this exhibition destabilizes conventional senses of identity and temporality, creating a space where fiction and transformation emerge. We warmly invite you to experience this profound dialogue in Hong Kong.

なお、本展より同ビル2階へ移転いたしました。

本展では、1960年代末から1970年頃に制作された、細江の代表作の一つである《抱擁（Embrace）》を展示いたします。被写体同士の身体の接触と絡み合いを通じて、生の衝動と存在の緊張、そして身体と身体の境界が混ざり合う瞬間を捉えた重要な写真群です。細江が長年追究した肉体の表象は、単なる人体描写を超え、他者との近接が生み出すエロスと不穏さの共存を、ゼラチンシルバープリントによる鮮烈な陰影とフォルムの構築として表します。
当時のビンテージプリント27枚の作品を展示し、写真というメディウムを通じて、身体と身体、存在と存在の関係を視覚化する挑戦的な美学を提示いたします。細江写真の根幹にある身体表現の深層と写真への問いを、是非会場までご覧ください。

14th March (Sat.) is the last day of the solo exhibition “Embrace”, by Eikoh Hosoe(1933–2024), currently on show at YOD Gallery (Tennoz, Tokyo).

Beginning with this exhibition, the gallery has relocated to the second floor of the same building.

This exhibition focuses on Embrace, one of Hosoe’s representative series, produced from the late 1960s to around 1970. Through the physical contact and intertwining of bodies, these photographs capture moments in which vital impulse and existential tension converge, and the boundaries between bodies dissolve. Hosoe’s long-standing exploration of the body transcends mere figuration; through the vivid contrasts and sculptural forms of gelatin silver prints, he articulates a coexistence of eros and unease generated by bodily proximity.
The exhibition presents 27 vintage prints, offering a compelling aesthetic vision that visualizes the relationships between body and body, existence and existence, through the medium of photography. Visitors are invited to encounter the profound inquiry into corporeal expression and the photographic medium that lies at the core of Hosoe’s work.

【ワークショップ｜名前のないブローチをつくろう】

グループ展「名前のない部屋」にあわせて、ワークショップを開催します。

本ワークショップでは、出展作家たちが作品制作の過程で生まれた端材を使用し、オリジナルのブローチ（またはストラップ）を制作します。

形や色の異なる素材を自由に組み合わせながら、完成形を決めずに手を動かしていくことで、どのようなものが生まれるのか分からない偶然や発見を楽しんでいただけます。

作品のかけらから生まれる、世界にひとつだけの小さな作品をぜひ作ってみてください。

[YOD Gallery (大阪)]

この度、YOD Galleryでは、グループ展「名前のない部屋」を開催いたします。

私たちは普段、空間や物に名前をつけ、用途や意味を与えることで物事を理解しています。そうすることで、同じように見えるものの違いに気づき、区別し、より深く捉えることができます。では、この前提がなければ、私たちの見方や感じ方はどのように変わるでしょうか。名前も意味も定まらず、用途も決まっていない空間に身を置いたら、どのように世界を感じるでしょうか。

「名前のない部屋」は、何かを規定する場所ではなく、意味が生まれる「前段階の場」として、長い歴史を一時的に逆行し、名付け以前の状態に立ち返る試みです。そこは、固定された答えのない自由な場であり、見えないものや曖昧なものに目を向けるための余白でもあります。また、鑑賞者それぞれの行為や感覚によって問いが立ち上がり、その都度、新しい意味や変化が生まれます。

多様な表現が交わる本展では、作品と鑑賞者が互いに影響し合いながら、「名前のない部屋」の可能性を共に体験していただければ幸いです。ぜひこの機会にご高覧ください。
