🏆 Throwback – October Highlights
The final days of Wa! Germany — short, emotional, and full of memorable encounters.
We celebrated the Day of German Unity, welcomed Prime Minister of the Free State of Saxony Michael Kretschmer during Saxony Federal State Week, and joined the European mascots’ gathering. Visitors exchanged stamps, painted Myaku-Myaku in Germany’s colours 🎨, and our Circulars were auctioned for a good cause 💛. The grand finale: the German Pavilion received two BIE Awards — 🥈 Silver for Theme Development and 🌿 the Sustainability Award.
A proud, inspiring end to our Expo journey — thank you, Osaka!

🏆 Rückblick – Oktober Highlights
Die letzten 13 Tage auf der Expo – kurz, intensiv und voller besonderer Momente.
Wir feierten den Tag der Deutschen Einheit, begrüßten Ministerpräsident Michael Kretschmer im Rahmen der Sachsen-Woche, und nahmen am Treffen der europäischen Maskottchen teil.
Es wurden weiter fleißig Stempel getauscht, Myaku-Myaku in unseren Farben bemalt 🎨, und unsere Circulars für einen guten Zweck versteigert 💛.
Der krönende Abschluss: Der Deutsche Pavillon wurde mit zwei BIE Awards ausgezeichnet – 🥈 Silber für Themenentwicklung und 🌿 der Sustainability Award.
Ein stolzer und emotionaler Abschluss unserer Expo-Zeit – danke, Osaka!

💃 Throwback – September Highlights
September brought rhythm, tradition and creativity to Wa! Germany!
From the lively Awa Odori dancers filling the Pavilion with joy to our very own Oktoberfest celebration 🍻 – it was a month of cultural connections and shared fun.
We also welcomed Sou Fujimoto, the visionary architect behind Expo’s Grand Ring, celebrated the Berlin Week, and saw our Circular Friends shine in their own photoshoot 📸 – plus many more moments of exchange and excitement that made September truly unforgettable.

Die Awa Odori-Tänzerinnen und -Tänzer brachten Lebensfreude und Energie nach „Wa! Germany“, während wir beim traditionellen Oktoberfest 🍻 gemeinsam gefeiert haben.
Architekt Sou Fujimoto, der kreative Kopf hinter dem Expo-Ring, war zu Besuch, unsere Circular Friends standen beim Fotoshooting im Rampenlicht 📸, und während der Berlin-Woche drehte sich alles um Innovation, Musik und Kreativität.

🌟 Throwback – August Highlights
August was bursting with energy, milestones and memorable moments at Wa! Germany.
We welcomed World Cup champion Erik Durm, met with Minister of State Johann Wadephul, and celebrated an incredible milestone — 2 million visitors at the German Pavilion! 🎉
New Circulars joined our Pavilion family, and so much more unfolded: inspiring encounters, creative events and countless smiles that made this summer month truly special.
Thank you, August — what a ride!

Ein Monat voller Highlights, Begegnungen und Energie im Deutschen Pavillon!
Wir durften Weltmeister Erik Durm und Staatsminister Johann Wadephul begrüßen und feierten einen großartigen Meilenstein – 2 Millionen Besucherinnen und Besucher bei „Wa! Germany“! 🎉
Auch unsere Familie der Circulars hat Zuwachs bekommen – und darüber hinaus gab es viele weitere bewegende, kreative und fröhliche Momente, die diesen Sommermonat unvergesslich gemacht haben.

🎋 Throwback – July Highlights
July at Wa! Germany was filled with joy, culture and distinguished visitors.
We celebrated Tanabata, welcomed the adorable Spanish “rats” and our beloved friends Heidi and Belu Belu — bringing smiles and laughter to the Pavilion.
A special honour: the visit of the President of the Czech Republic and Her Imperial Highness The Princess Takamado, who explored Germany’s ideas of innovation, sustainability and circularity.
A month of celebration, encounters and shining moments — thank you, July!

🎋 Rückblick – Juli Highlights
Ein Monat voller Freude, Kultur und besonderer Begegnungen im Deutschen Pavillon.
Wir feierten das japanische Tanabata-Fest, bekamen Besuch von den charmanten spanischen „Ratten“ sowie von Heidi und Belu Belu – und auch die Feuerwehr schaute vorbei.
Ein Höhepunkt: Der Besuch des Präsidenten der Tschechischen Republik und Ihrer Kaiserlichen Hoheit Prinzessin Takamado, die „Wa! Germany“ mit großem Interesse und Herzlichkeit erlebte.
Ein Monat voller Begegnungen, Emotionen und inspirierender Momente – danke, Juli!

🎶 Throwback – a day that truly moved us
Germany’s National Day was filled with music, encounters and strong moments of connection.
Cultural highlights included a German-Japanese performance of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy, a piano recital by Alice Sara Ott and a contemporary dance interpretation of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony. Following the official ceremony at the National Day Hall, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (.steinmeier) also visited the German Pavilion, making Wa! Germany a special place of exchange and unity.
The day continued with “Beyond Planet Earth – German-Japanese Cooperation in Space”, bringing together JAXA, DLR and international guests to discuss sustainability, climate protection and the future role of space.

🎶 Rückblick – Ein Tag, der uns bewegt hat
Der Nationentag war geprägt von Musik, Begegnungen und besonderen Momenten.
Zu den kulturellen Höhepunkten zählten ein deutsch-japanischer Beitrag zu Beethovens Ode an die Freude, ein Klavierauftritt von Alice Sara Ott sowie eine zeitgenössische Tanzperformance zu Beethovens 5. Sinfonie. Nach der offiziellen Zeremonie in der National Day Hall besuchte Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier (.steinmeier) auch den Deutschen Pavillon und machte Wa! Germany zu einem Ort des Austauschs und der Verbundenheit.
Im anschließenden Programmpunkt “Beyond Planet Earth – German-Japanese Cooperation in Space” standen Nachhaltigkeit, Klimaschutz und der Weltraum als Zukunftsthema im Fokus.

⚽🌈 June was full of great moments at Wa! Germany.
We welcomed football legend Makoto Hasebe and former national player Tomoaki Makino, who stand for sustainability and teamwork on and off the pitch. Europa-Chan, the friendly face of the EU-Pavilion, also stopped by!
We were happy to welcome Henriette Reker, former Mayor of the City of Cologne, celebrated Pride Month, enjoyed some karaoke moments and reached an exciting milestone of 1 million visitors.
Thanks, June, for the inspiring conversations and special guests.

⚽🌈 Der Juni brachte viele besondere Momente in den Deutschen Pavillon.
Fußballlegende Makoto Hasebe und Ex-Nationalspieler Tomoaki Makino waren zu Besuch und stehen für Nachhaltigkeit und Teamgeist – auf und neben dem Platz. Auch Europa-Chan, das Maskottchen des EU-Pavillons, schaute vorbei.
Wir freuten uns außerdem über den Besuch von Henriette Reker, ehemalige Oberbürgermeisterin der Stadt Köln, feierten den Pride Month, sangen Karaoke und begrüßten unseren einmillionsten Gast.
Danke, Juni, für die inspirierenden Begegnungen und tollen Gäste.

🌸 Throwback – Rückblick April & May
Im April sind wir im Deutschen Pavillon mit voller Energie gestartet – und durften zahlreiche großartige Gäste begrüßen!
Darunter Seine Majestät König Carl XVI. Gustaf von Schweden, S.K.H. den Großherzog von Luxemburg und die Deutsche Weinkönigin.
Außerdem waren Olympiasiegerinnen, die Deutsche Schule Kobe und eine echte Expo-Legende – Banpaku Obaa-chan – bei uns zu Gast.
Besonders gefreut haben wir uns über den Besuch im Fernsehstudio von NHK!
Ein großartiger Start in den Frühling – voller Inspiration, Begegnungen und besonderer Momente!

🌸 Throwback – April & May
In April, Wa! Germany kicked off the spring with full energy – and we were thrilled to welcome so many amazing guests!
Among them were His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, H.R.H. the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, and the German Wine Queen.
We also had the pleasure of hosting Olympic champions, the Deutsche Schule Kobe, and a true Expo legend – Banpaku Obaa-chan.
A special highlight was our visit to the NHK TV studio!
A fantastic start to spring – full of inspiration, encounters, and unforgettable moments!

🏆 We are pleased to announce that the German Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka has received two Gold awards at the BrandEx Award:
Best Ex*****on Architecture and Best Thematic Exhibition.

The German Pavilion is a project of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). We thank everyone involved who made this achievement possible.

🎉 Throwback – The Big Moment: Opening!
The day we had all been working toward finally arrived — the grand opening of the German Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka!
Maestro Sado enchanted the audience with a unique flute duet — played on two flutes at once! Our very first visitor was the beloved “Expo Grandpa” Fuji-san, and Commissioner General Patrick Specht delivered an inspiring opening speech.
Among the guests were Michael Kellner, Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWE) .kellner , Dr. Dorothea Schütz, Head of Division BMWE,
Petra Sigmund, German Ambassador to Japan , and Melanie Saxinger, German Consul General in Osaka.
The symbolic ribbon cutting was accompanied by international media coverage — a memorable start to six months of circular futures!

🎉 Throwback – Der große Moment: Eröffnung!
Der Tag, auf den wir so lange hingearbeitet hatten, war endlich da – die feierliche Eröffnung des Deutschen Pavillons auf der Expo 2025 Osaka!
Maestro Sado verzauberte das Publikum mit einem Flötenduo – gespielt auf zwei Flöten gleichzeitig! Unser allererster Besucher war Expo-Opa Fuji-san, und Generalkommissar Patrick Specht hielt eine bewegende Eröffnungsrede.
Unter den Gästen waren Michael Kellner, Parlamentarischer Staatssekretär im Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz (BMWE) .kellner ,
Dr. Dorothea Schütz, Unterabteilungsleiterin BMWE,
Petra Sigmund, Deutsche Botschafterin in Japan ,
sowie Melanie Saxinger, Deutsche Generalkonsulin in Osaka.
Der symbolische Ribbon Cutting wurde von zahlreichen internationalen Medien begleitet – ein unvergesslicher Auftakt für sechs Monate zirkuläre Zukunft!

🏗️ Throwback – Taking Shape
The vision became reality: step by step, Wa! Germany rose from the ground and took on its circular form.
In this phase, the pavilion's unique architecture began to shine – wood, mycelium, and green spaces coming together to tell the story of circularity.
Every curve, every detail was a promise: this will be more than a building.

🏗️ Throwback – 形になるまで
ビジョンが現実となりました。ステップごとに「Wa! Germany」は地面から立ち上がり、円形の姿を現していきました。
この段階で、パビリオンの独自の建築が輝き始めました——木材、菌糸体、そして緑が一体となり、「循環」という物語を語ります。
あらゆる曲線、あらゆるディテールが約束していました。これは単なる建物ではなく、もっと深い意味を持つものになる、と。

🏗️ Throwback – Es nimmt Form an
Aus der Vision wurde Wirklichkeit: Schritt für Schritt wuchs Wa! Germany in die Höhe und zeigte seine kreisförmige Gestalt.
In dieser Bauphase wurde die besondere Architektur sichtbar – Holz, Myzel und Grünflächen verschmolzen zu einer Geschichte der Zirkularität.
Jede Kurve, jedes Detail versprach: Das wird mehr als ein Gebäude.
