金銅製掛仏。前方へ張り出す強い立体感を備え、千手観音を表す。多手は簡略化され、静かな面相と細緻な線刻が印象的。鍍金や彩色の痕跡も残り、経年の味わいとともに魅力を伝える。

Thousand-Armed Kannon Hanging Buddha

A gilt bronze hanging Buddha depicting Thousand-Armed Kannon, notable for its strong forward-projecting relief and sculptural presence. The many arms are symbolically simplified, while fine incised details and a calm expression convey depth. Traces of gilding and pigment remain, adding to its aged beauty.

A palm-sized wooden seated figure of Mahasthamaprapta (Seishi) Bodhisattva, shown with hands joined in prayer. Finely carved features, expressive eyes, and flowing drapery reflect the realism of Kamakura-period sculpture. Traces of gilding remain, adding a quiet elegance to this intimate work.

Eleven-Headed Kannon Hanging Buddha

Iron Hanging Buddha

A small iron Buddha believed to date to the Edo period. Despite its humble material, its gentle expression and rounded form give it a charming presence. Possibly once a secondary figure from an Amida halo, though its origins remain uncertain. Now mounted on old wood as a hanging image, it offers a quietly engaging presence for everyday contemplation.

鳥取・智積寺跡出土の泥塔。地蔵を示す梵字「カ」と法華経の一字を刻む希少例で、鎌倉期の泥塔供養の広がりを伝える。良好な保存状態で、祈りの気配と素朴な土の温もりを宿す一品。

Clay Votive Stupa from Chishaku-ji Temple Site

A small clay votive stupa excavated from the Chishaku-ji temple site in Tottori. It bears the Siddham character “ka” for Jizo and a character from the Lotus Sutra, a rare feature unique to this site. Likely made for large-scale devotional offerings, it preserves a strong sense of medieval prayer and the warm texture of unglazed clay.

唐 如来坐像塼仏

唐代の小型塼仏。如来が蓮華座に坐し、頭光と宝塔を伴う。長安周辺で作られたもので、摩耗の少ない優品。玄奘の帰還を契機に盛行した信仰と制作の気風を、小さな像内に豊かに伝える。

Tang Dynasty Seated Buddha Brick

A small Tang dynasty molded clay “zhuan fo” depicting a seated Buddha on a lotus pedestal with a halo and flanking pagodas. Likely produced around Chang’an, it is a rare, well-preserved example. It reflects the flourishing devotional culture inspired by Xuanzang’s return from India.
