幻の宮絵師 安川如風による[花の丸襖絵]解説。

大雄院には、江戸時代に生まれた天才絵師、柴田是真の襖絵がありました。現在の[花の丸襖絵]は、多数発見された天井画の下絵を大雄院が襖絵として完成させたいという強い願いから、安川如風に白羽の矢が立ちました。

柴田是真の下絵でありながら、
安川如風作品としての完成度高い仕上がり。
まさにオマージュ作品の真骨頂といえるでしょう。

◆「オマージュ（homage）」とは、芸術、映画、音楽などの分野において、尊敬する作家や作品に対して敬意（リスペクト）を表し、あえて似た手法や要素を自身の作品に取り入れることを指します。
語源はフランス語の「hommage」で、「尊敬、敬意、献身」という意味があります。
目的： 憧れの作家への感謝や尊敬を表現すること。

Legendary palace painter Nyofu Yasukawa will provide commentary on the "Flower Round Sliding Door Painting."
After a kaiseki bento meal, enjoy matcha green tea and Japanese sweets while immersing yourself in the personality of Master Nyofu.
Daiyuin Temple once housed sliding door paintings by Shibata Zeshin, a genius painter born during the Edo period. The current "Flower Round Sliding Door Painting" was created by Nyofu Yasukawa, reflecting Daiyuin's strong desire to complete the numerous ceiling painting sketches discovered in the museum.
Although it is a rough sketch by Shibata Zeshin,
it has a highly polished finish as a work by Yasukawa Jofu.
It is truly the epitome of an homage piece.

◆ "Homage" is a term used in fields such as art, film, and music to express respect for a respected author or work, deliberately incorporating similar techniques or elements into one's own work.
The word derives from the French word "hommage," which means "respect, respect, devotion."

And today, December 4th (Thursday), marks the opening of Yasukawa Nyofu's second solo exhibition!

I've planned and hosted over 100 events (I counted all the past events on Facebook), but this one is especially nerve-wracking.

This nervousness is combined with joy and excitement, because it's an opportunity to let everyone know about my beloved Yasukawa Nyofu.

The delicate, girlish beauty of the flowers and birds dancing in the wind, the profound feeling of the undulating dragon, and the complex, honest colors imbued with "prayer"—these are the essence of Nyofu's spirit.

Jofu proudly proclaims, "I am a craftsman."
A craftsman cannot lie about anything.
He not only completes the commission,
he believes this painting will remain even 100 years from now, even after he's gone.

It is truly the culmination of his boundless determination.

18：00～20：00　臨済宗 興聖寺にて。

イベントは本当に緊張します。私は今日まで100以上企画し、主催してきました（Facebookで過去イベント数えてみた(笑)）が、今回は格別な緊張があります。

この緊張は嬉しさとワクワクに繋がっています。それは、大好きな安川如風先生を皆さんに知って頂ける機会になっているから。

花鳥が風に舞う少女のような可憐さ
龍の蠢く重厚さ
「祈り」を込めた彩色の複雑で真っすぐな色合い
それらは如風先生の心持ちそのもの。

「自分は職人だ」と言い切る如風先生。
職人は誤魔化しがきかない。
依頼に合わせたものを収めると同時に
この絵は、自分がいなくなっても100年は残る。

[December 4th (Thursday) - Official Solo Exhibition by the Legendary Palace Painter Nyofu-Yasukawa!]
It's finally tomorrow!

In the silent, silent spaces of Koshoji Temple, also known as Oribe-dera, and Momiji Temple at night, Master Yasukawa Nyofu's ceiling paintings and original "Prayer Patterns" will be lined up.

You can watch a demonstration of ink painting prepared for this exhibition, complete with commentary! It was a style that Matsunaga had never seen before, and it was beautiful...

The auspicious patterns, including phoenixes, dragons, and lions, lavishly painted in gold leaf, are perfect as lucky charms to decorate for the New Year.

[The Brush Held in Mouth]
Miya painter Yasukawa Nyofu coined the unique term "miya painte(miya eshi)r" and registered it as a trademark.

The term "miyadaiku" (carpenter for shrines and temples) is immediately recognizable to Japanese people. A "miyadaiku" (carpenter for shrines and temples) is responsible for the various aspects of "construction."
And a "miya painter" is also responsible for the various aspects of "painting" shrines and temples.

To achieve the unique technique of Miya painter Yasukawa Nyofu, a single brush is not enough.
He holds two brushes in his dominant hand and also holds them in his mouth.
In other words, he has developed a unique technique of wielding three brushes simultaneously.

This time we've written about the "brush he holds in his mouth,"
but Yasukawa Nyofu has also created a unique world while preserving a variety of traditional techniques and skills.

【くわえる筆】
宮絵師 安川如風は『宮絵師』という独自の言葉を生み出し、商標登録をしました。

『宮大工』という言葉はすぐ日本人にはわかりますよね。『宮大工』は神社仏閣の様々な“建築”を担う存在です。
そして『宮絵師』も、神社仏閣の様々な“彩色”を担う存在なのです。

宮絵師 安川如風独特の技法で仕上げるには、一本の筆だけでは追いつきません。
利き手だけでも２本を握り、さらに口にくわえます。
つまり3本の筆を同時に操る技法を独自で編み出したのです。

今回は「くわえる筆」について書きましたが
ほかにも様々な伝統的技法、技術を守りながら独自の世界を創り上げてきたのが安川如風です。

SUZU is a supermodel who travels the globe.
As her producer, I've known her for a long time.
She contacted me to say that she'll be meeting with Yasukawa Nyofu on Thursday, December 4th. This information is also officially disclosed.

She has grown into one of Japan's leading models, walking the runways every year at Milan, New York, and Paris Fashion Week. She's also increasingly appearing on the covers of high-end brands.

[Demonstration]
To coincide with this occasion, Yasukawa Jofu himself gave us a demonstration.

Since meeting him, it's only since this solo exhibition was decided that I've actually seen him paint in front of me.

It takes three days just to prepare the materials for Japanese painting. So, for this event, he'll be demonstrating sumi-e (ink painting).

Mount Fuji, the sun, and a rising dragon.
His assistant, Ms. Ohno, said that she had been expanding on her imagination up until today. Having Ms. Ohno there made everything go so smoothly. We're grateful.

A promotional video is also currently in production.

出会ってから、実際こうして目の前で描いてくださる姿を見るのは今回の個展が決定してから。

日本画の画材は、準備だけでも3日はかかります。なので今回は墨絵を披露してくださることに。

今日までイメージを膨らませてくださっていたと、アシスタントの大野嬢。今回大野さんが居てくれたおかげで全てがスムーズでした。感謝。

The first day of the exhibition by legendary palace painter Nyofu Yasukawa has concluded. Thank you to everyone who came to our less-than-accessible venue. ✨

It was unexpectedly dark, which made for some unexpectedly difficult displays, but it was an interesting twist.

This is one of Koshoji Temple's highlights: the autumn foliage garden.

Above all, every single visitor was wonderful. Everyone praised it highly. I'm embarrassed. 💦

Of course, this is all thanks to Nyofu Yasukawa's work and the space at Koshoji Temple. And to the support of the team.

We'll be putting on an even more elaborate exhibition on Thursday, December 4th.

The leaves are said to be even crimson redder than usual.

Autumn in Kyoto, at Kosho-ji Temple, a Rinzai sect temple founded by Furuta Oribe, one of Sen no Rikyu's disciples, the "Seven Great Men of Rikyu," a solo exhibition by Yasukawa Jofu, the world's only palace painter.

Yasukawa Nyofu is the world's only palace painter, having painted the "world of gods and Buddhas" in ceiling paintings, murals, sliding door paintings, and hanging scrolls at shrines and temples across Japan. His delicate yet crystalline worldview blends grace with powerful vitality.
His paintings of flowers, birds, and flowers are as if "blowing in the wind." Even the scent of the trees wafts through the air, imbuing the paintings with the "prayer" that Jofu himself believes in.
This solo exhibition, featuring previously unpublished works, will be held at Kosho-ji Temple, an Oribe temple in Kyoto. Enjoy Jofu's fantastical world unfolding amidst the autumn foliage at night.
