We extend our heartfelt congratulations on the inscription of the "Asuka-Fujiwara Palace Sites" as a World Heritage site.
The exhibition currently underway, "The World of Collotypeー Cultural Properties seen in Collotype -," features collotype reproductions of the murals from the Takamatsuzuka Tumulus—one of the constituent sites of this World Heritage property—specifically the north, east, and west walls.
Widely known for the group of female figures referred to as the "Asuka Beauties" (*Asuka Bijin*), these murals vividly convey the customs and styles of the late 7th to early 8th centuries—the dawn of the ancient Japanese state.
These reproductions were created in 2017, based on original photographic negatives taken by a photographer from Benrido the day after the site's excavation.
We invite you to take this opportunity to appreciate the vibrant colors and exquisite, detailed artistry as they appeared at the time of the discovery.

「飛鳥・藤原の宮都」の世界遺産登録を祝し、心よりお慶び申し上げます。
現在開催中の「コロタイプの世界展―コロタイプで観る文化財―」では、その構成遺産の一つである高松塚古墳壁画のコロタイプ複製（北壁・東壁・西壁）を展示しております。
「飛鳥美人」と呼ばれる女性群像で広く知られる本壁画は、7世紀末から8世紀初頭という日本古代国家の黎明期の風俗を色濃く伝えています。
遺跡発掘の翌日に依頼を受けた便利堂の写真技師が撮影した写真原板をもとに、平成29年（2017）に制作いたしました。
発見当時の瑞々しい色彩と、細やかで美しい描写をぜひこの機会にご堪能ください。

Starting in 1961 (Shōwa 36), Benrido spent five years producing a reproduction of the * Admonitions of the Instructress to the Court Ladies* from the British Museum’s collection.
The * Admonitions of the Instructress to the Court Ladies * is a Chinese scroll painting believed to have been depicted between the 6th and 8th centuries, based on a code of conduct for court ladies written around the 3rd century. By reproducing this artwork, Benrido conducted extensive research to enable full-color printing using the collotype process—originally a monochrome method—and succeeded in commercializing “Color Collotype,” a proprietary technology unique in the world.

This exhibition features representative reproductions of cultural properties, including a reproduction of the *Admonitions of the Instructress to the Court Ladies* and life-size reproductions of the mural paintings of the Takamatsuzuka Tumulus. We are also introducing our latest “Kyoto‐Han” cards series designed for enjoyment. We invite you to explore the world of Benrido’s Color Collotype, from the past to the present.

1961年（昭和36年）より、便利堂は大英博物館所蔵の《女史箴図巻》の複製を5年がかりで制作しました。女史箴図は3世紀頃に書かれた宮中女官のための心得をもとに6世紀～8世紀頃に描かれたとされる中国絵巻です。
その際、元々単色刷だったコロタイプでフルカラーを可能にするため研究を重ね、世界で唯一の独自技術「カラーコロタイプ」の実用化に成功しました。
本展では、この《女史箴図巻》複製をはじめ、高松塚古墳壁画の原寸大複製など、代表的な文化財複製を展示。また、お手元で楽しめるカードシリーズ《京都はん》も併せて紹介。過去から現在までの便利堂カラーコロタイプの世界を、ぜひご高覧ください。

Kyoto has entered the Gion Festival period, and the assembly of the festival floats has been completed in many locations. If you walk south along Shinmachi-street, where Benrido is located, you’ll see many festival floats from just past the large Oike-street intersection all the way to Shijo-street. It’s extremely hot, so please enjoy the atmosphere of the Gion Festival while making sure to stay in the shade and take breaks, or, if you’re at home, be sure to stay hydrated and spend your time in an air-conditioned.
