This is a Black Raku Hirachawan (shallow tea bowl) by the master artist Tatsuaki Kuroda, a Living National Treasure (Holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property) in woodworking who profoundly embodied the spirit of the Mingei (Japanese Folk Crafts) movement.

The piece features a powerful sense of form and a "depth of color" that resonates with the exquisite lacquerwork for which he is primarily known. Inside the bowl (mikomi), subtle reddish hues are exquisitely intermingled within the profound black glaze.

On the rim, there is a small "hajike" (a crater-like mark caused by the bubbling of the glaze during firing). This is a natural "keshiki" (aesthetic feature or "scenery") born from the intense heat of the kiln and is a testament to the organic nature of Raku ware. It does not, of course, affect the bowl's functionality or durability.

The foot (kodai) is stamped with the artist’s seal, "Tatsu" (辰). Furthermore, this work comes with a shikibako (authenticated storage box) signed by his wife, Fuji Kuroda.

Kansetsu HASHIOMTO Hanging Scroll : "Mount Fuji"

This is a magnificent hanging scroll depicting "富嶽図 (Fugaku-zu / Mount Fuji)" by Hashimoto Kansetsu (1883-1945), one of the most prominent masters of modern Japanese painting (Nihonga).

The majestic and sacred presence of Mount Fuji is captured here with Kansetsu’s signature fluid and powerful brushwork. The beautiful contrast between the snow-covered slopes, the surrounding sea of clouds, and the trees at the foothills evokes a sense of sublime elegance and serenity. The artist's inscription (gasan) is preserved on the upper left of the painting.

Shows minor faint creasing due to age, and there are a few slight, minor foxing spots (light brown stains) on the upper section (top) of the mounting.
There is no major damage that detracts from the appreciation of the main artwork itself, and it remains in good antique condition overall.

Beautifully mounted on paper (shihon), this refined artwork will add an air of distinction to any alcove (tokonoma), Japanese-style room, or contemporary living space. It is an exceptional piece for art collectors and perfect for year-round display or formal, celebratory occasions.

Kanjiro KAWAI "Jar with Flower and Bird Motif"

This is an exceptionally rare handled jar created by Kawai Kanjiro (1890–1966), a central figure of the Mingei (Folk Art) movement, during the early stage of his career.

The piece demonstrates a sophisticated layering technique: a white slip with fine crackle (kannu) is applied over a natural reddish-brown clay body, then accented with bold, vibrant green glaze. The body is decorated with dynamic bird and flower motifs, showcasing Kanjiro's exquisite technical virtuosity and deep mastery of classical ceramic traditions before he transitioned into his iconic Mingei style.

The foot ring bears the impressed "Kan" (寛) seal, a hallmark of his early works. The piece is accompanied by a wooden box inscribed and authenticated by his nephew and foremost disciple, Kawai Takeichi.

Please note that there is some minor peeling of the glaze and slip on the body, which is characteristic of the age and the specific decorative techniques of this period.

Hanshichi SHIRAI, the 9th 　"Dishes Set of 10"

Shirai Hanshichi is the name of a pottery family that has continued since the Edo period. In the early days, he produced Imado-yaki, Raku-like soft pottery glazed on tile ware, and also produced Imado-ningyo dolls, and prospered. It is said that he made many dishes for Kitcho. The ten mukozuke dishes are accompanied by a small green-glazed bowl.

"Old Baccarat Bowl"

During the Meiji era, the owner of Harumi Shoten, an antique dealer in Osaka, placed a special commission with Baccarat of France. The order included kaiseki tableware such as bowls and water jars (mizusashi), intended for tea practitioners who sought a sense of cool refinement during the warmer months. This piece is believed to belong to that same distinguished commission. The body features intricate exterior cutting reminiscent of Edo kiriko glasswork, while the rim is elegantly adorned with gilding.

This is a sublime sake cup (sakazuki) crafted by Miwa Kyusetsu XI (later known as Jusetsu), a towering figure who reached the pinnacle of the modern Japanese ceramic world.

The piece showcases the iconic "Kyusetsu White" (Kyusetsu-jiro), a thick, snowy-white straw ash glaze developed alongside his elder brother, Ky?setsu X. The glaze flows with a powerful yet warm expression, elevating this vessel beyond a simple functional item to a profound "objet d'art."
