【スイス人ご夫妻から見た、着物の魅力】
「着物の何が魅力的なの？」
庭を眺めながら、スイス人のご夫妻に尋ねてみました。
返ってきた言葉は、とても印象的でした。
⚫︎ 織や染めによる、美しいテキスタイル
⚫︎ 洋服のようにすぐ着るのではなく、一枚一枚を丁寧に重ねていく時間
⚫︎ 歩くたびに生まれる、流れるようなドレープの美しさ
そして実際に着てみると、
「帯がお腹をしっかり支えてくれて、心地良い」
「苦しくないから、ずっと着ていたい」
「もし日本に住んでいたら、毎日着ると思う」
さらに、こんな言葉も。
「どうして日本人は、こんなに美しい着物を着なくなったの？」
海外の方が、日本の美意識や手仕事の価値を、まっすぐに感じ取ってくださることに、改めて嬉しくなりました。
着物は、ただ“着るもの”ではなく、
一つ一つを几帳面に、丁寧に積み重ねてきた日本人の姿勢や文化、そのもの。
そんな日本人の美意識を、美しいと感じていただけるのかもしれません。
【What a Swiss Couple Loves About Kimono】
“What makes kimono so attractive?”
I asked a Swiss couple visiting Japan.
Their answers were beautiful:
⚫︎ The elegance of Japanese textiles⚫︎ The slow, careful process of dressing layer by layer⚫︎ The graceful drape and silhouette
After wearing kimono, they said:
“It feels comfortable.”“The obi supports the body gently.”“If I lived in Japan, I would wear kimono every day.”
Then they asked:
“Why did Japanese people stop wearing such beautiful clothing made from natural materials?”
Kimono are more than clothing.
They reflect the Japanese spirit of beauty, care, and craftsmanship.
