私のテーマは日常の中の違和感。日々淡々と時が流れる中にふとした何で？が隠れている。生きていた動物が肉となりパッケージングされる。信号で制御された人々。様々な事件事故。報道。個人情報って死んだら無くなるの？いろんな何で？を器に落とし込む。かつて先人たちが風景を器に描いてきたように、私も描き続けたい。

今回のメインディッシュは食肉のなんで？豚は人間の家畜であったり時々ペットだったりペットの犬は豚肉のしゃぶしゃぶが大好きだったり。秋田で熊鍋食べたり熊に食べられたり。いろんな違和感と共にお食事を楽しんていってください。（北井真衣）

We are pleased to announce a solo exhibition by Kutani ware artist Mai Kitai based in Komatsu city Ishikawa prefecture. This exhibition will feature approximately 60 pieces, including, objects, flower vases, sake cups, sake pitchers, Teabowls, pots, cup&saucer, cups, magcups, etc.
As this marks her first solo exhibition in our gallery, we hope you will take this opportunity to visit our gallery.

My theme is the sense of dissonance found in everyday life. Hidden within the monotonous flow of daily life are those sudden moments of “Why?”  Living animals are turned into meat and packaged. People controlled by traffic lights. Various incidents and accidents. News reports. Does personal information disappear when we die? I pour these various “Whys?” into my vessels. Just as our predecessors once painted landscapes on vessels, I would like to continue drawing, too.

The main course this time is “Why?” regarding meat. Pigs are domesticated animals for humans, and sometimes even pets; and pet dogs really love pork shabu-shabu.  In Akita, people eat bear hot pot—or get eaten by bears. Please enjoy your meal along with these various feelings of dissonance.(Mai Kitai)

本日をもちまして、大家まいさんの個展が終了いたしました。
会期中お越しいただきました皆様、また、作品をお求めいただきました皆様、誠に有難うございました。お求めいただきました作品が、皆様の暮らしに彩りを与えてくれることを願っております。

初個展から2年ぶり2度目の当店での個展となりました。初めてお会いしてから４年余り、あの頃はまだ作品を世に送り出す前だったのが、活躍の場は大いに広がり、あっという間に超多忙な作家さんへと成長されました。当然のことながら、その裏には一日一日を一生懸命に積み重ねた４年間があったということは言うまでもありません。
いまだに個展前は寝れなくなるほどの緊張を覚えるとのことですが、それが謙虚な姿勢の一因となっているのだと思います。

さて、大家さんと言えば、まずはトレードマーク的存在である背景に用いられているグラデーションカラーが印象的です。色を重ねる量で変わるのは色の濃さだけでなく、光沢も変わり、今回もマットな質感のものから光沢感あるものもご覧いただけました。それが背景全体に広がる筆による細密な骨描きと合わさることで、背景という言葉では片付けられない独自性高い存在感になっています。

さらには、窓枠の様に切り取られた部分。九谷焼でも古くから描かれている窓絵ですが、大家さんの窓絵は窓枠がデコラティブで、金彩を中心とするため煌びやかな額縁を彷彿させる装飾が西洋的で、それが作品全体にモダンで優美な雰囲気をもたらしています。

そしてその枠の中心には、生命の循環の渦中に瞬く様々な生き物たちが、これまた細かい筆使いで描かれています。どの生き物も穏やかで優しい雰囲気ですが、端正な佇まいが気品を纏っています。また、色はモノトーンであることで物語性を帯び、見る側の想像力を膨らませてくれます。

また、今回も多く用いられた、工藤武氏、完子氏の素地。美しい素地を作る素地師の方は沢山いらっしゃいますが、お二人の様にユニークでバリエーション豊かな素地を絵付師に提供する方は極めて少なく、それゆえ、描く側にも力量を問われる部分もある中で、見事に作品として昇華されていました。

すでに独自の作品世界を確立しつつある大家さんですが、これから何十年と続く陶芸家人生の中で、どの様に進展、拡張していくのか、群雄割拠の九谷焼、そして陶芸世界をどの様にサバイブしていくのか楽しみでなりません。

この度も最後までお付き合いいただきありがとうございました。
