T3 PHOTO FESTIVAL TOKYOは、2017年5月に上野公園を舞台に東京初の屋外型国際写真フェスティバルとして開催。第2回となる本年は舞台を京橋へと移し開催します。京橋は、東京、銀座、日本橋に隣接し、多数の企業が進出するビジネスエリアとして発展している街です。一方で、その歴史を紐解くと、歌舞伎発祥の地や歌川広重や狩野派の絵師が屋敷を構えるなど文化芸術にもゆかりのある地であり、現在も国立フィルムアーカイヴや、アーティゾン美術館などが存在し、オフィスエリアと文化が共存しています。
2020年に起こった世界的なパンデミックは、効率化や集積化の発明である都市の在り方を問うものでした。オフィス街はその影響を強く受けた場所の1つですが、そんな東京のオフィスエリアの中でも、文化と近い距離にある京橋を舞台に開催される作品展を通じて、変容の
中から新たなヒントや可能性を考察します。
T3 PHOTO FESTIVAL TOKYO was launched in the Ueno Park and its environs in May 2017 as the first international outdoor photo festival in Tokyo. The second installment of this festival, scheduled for this year, will be held in Kyobashi, a bustling business district adjacent to Tokyo Station and the Ginza and Nihonbashi shopping districts. Kyobashi also has a rich history of arts and culture as it was the birthplace of Kabuki theater and where ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige (born as Ando Hiroshige) and painters of the Kano school set up their residences. The global pandemic of 2020 has called into question the future of urban areas, characterized by the efficiency and concentration of infrastructure systems, and office districts are among the areas strongly affected by the pandemic. T3 PHOTO FESTIVAL TOKYO explores new possibilities and perspectives in processes of transformation through the photo exhibition held in Kyobashi, an office district rich in cultural history.
