We pass through countless landscapes every day. However, when viewed through the filter of an artist, a familiar scene is transformed into a singular, extraordinary vision—one that reflects universal truths or the artist’s own inner world.
In this exhibition, “A Scenery – A Certain Landscape -” we are proud to present a collaboration of veteran artists who have spent many years sincerely pushing the boundaries of artistic expression. Through their masterful brushwork and profound sense of form, the “sceneries” they capture transcend mere realism, speaking to us of tranquil moments and fragments of memory. We hope that as these mature perspectives intersect, you will discover a landscape that resonates with your own heart.
This exhibition showcases a diverse range of expressions—including figurative, abstract, and realistic works—by a selection of mid-career and veteran artists chosen by our gallery. We invite you to explore “A Scenery – A Landscape of the Mind -,” where worlds are reimagined and reconstructed through the unique techniques and distinct styles of each artist.

The materials used on the work itself stand out on Japanese traditional paintings, there is a clarity in the works as if the pigments were like the soft light from the paintings which creates atmosphere to the work of art, and that is the major difference between Japanese paintings and Western traditional oil paintings.
Japanese traditional paintings have been developed in an unique way in Japan, but there is a certain influence of Western oil paintings such as putting a lot of layers of paint or abstract expressionism in contemporary Japanese artworks. There is also a way of making artworks using traditional Japanese painting techniques as well as contemporary ways of working, and this could possibly lead Japanese contemporary art world amongst other movements in the world.
In this exhibition called “Inscape”, we are focusing on Japanese paintings and we have selected artists who seek the aesthetics in the world of Japanese paintings. Each artist visualise their own “Inscape” using rock pigment on the surface of the works. The main concept of this exhibition is to show the impact of Japanese paintings in contemporary art scenes and the directions and possibilities of the Japanese art in the next generations.

When we create a work of art, fragments of memory are unconsciously engraved within it.
The choice of color, the stroke of the brush, the texture of the material – these all resonate with fragments of landscapes and emotions from the past, and they take shape.
This exhibition, “piece – Fragments of Memory”, is a space where countless such fragments come together and are reborn as new expressions. It is precisely because memories are vague and uncertain that they can transform freely and begin to take on new meanings within the work. Rather than confining the past, they reconstruct it and, by interacting with the viewer’s memories, connect to an as yet unseen story.
The act of creating is the act of picking up the fragments of lost time, and works are crystallized fragments of memory. Through this exhibition, we hope to share the experience of fragments resonating with each other and leading to new memories

Stillness and Vitality: Two Perspectives on the Essence of the King of Beasts

For centuries, the tiger has been a subject of both awe and admiration, a symbol of resilient spirit throughout history. In this exhibition, two Chinese-born artists, Lu Zhongping and MAI, delve into the very core of this creature's life force through their unique techniques and sensibilities.

Lu Zhongping uses heavy, layered oil paints to carve the weight of the tiger’s soul onto the canvas. In his acrylic works, he fuses realistic depiction with pop expressions, capturing a surging, contemporary energy and a vibrant sense of life.

In contrast, MAI utilizes the delicate medium of colored pencils to pursue the tiger’s form with staggering density. The meticulous realism, down to each individual strand of fur, confronts the viewer with a silent yet overwhelming power.
Oil, acrylic, and colored pencil—we invite you to experience this interplay of textures and the powerful "heartbeat" of the tiger, as captured through the distinct lenses of these two artists.

“Path 2026” @ GALLERY ART POINT

The title of this exhibition, ”Path”, means locus, track, course, journey, etc.
In the history of art in Japan and around the world, there is a path that art has followed, such as the flow of art, changes in style, and the historical background (relationship with politics, economy, beliefs, customs, society, etc.) that gave birth to artists and works. As you can see, each artist has a history of creating works. For artists, production activities are a path, and the works that are produced in the process of evolving and changing every moment as we face art every day will be the heart of the artist from time to time. It can be said that it is a path that represents. Over the years, the work will become an element of their path.
In this exhibition, we will exhibit various mental expressions created at the passing points of each artist’s life, and trace the path of their mind through the world of works expressed by various approaches and styles. Think about the artistic journey that they have taken through their work, and enjoy a moment of communication with them.

“Abstraction 2026” @ GALLERY ART POINT.bis

Abstract art emerged in Europe in the early 20th century, with Wassily Kandinsky often credited as its founder around 1910. The movement later flourished in the United States during the 1940s–50s. Art critic Clement Greenberg argued that by stripping away unnecessary elements and reducing painting to its essential form, modernism would reach its purest expression—a view that greatly influenced the art world.
More than half a century later, some now question whether abstraction has reached its limits. In Japan today, figurative works with strong narratives or anime-like styles dominate, while abstract painting has faded from prominence.
This exhibition revisits the meaning and potential of abstraction in our time, exploring what art and painting truly are. Featuring four selected artists who continue to pursue new possibilities in abstract expression, it highlights the diversity and vitality of abstraction today.
Artists who receive strong recognition in this show may be invited to future solo or curated exhibitions, as well as international projects by Art Point.

This exhibition is the final chapter (epilogue) that concludes this year, but the final chapter does not mean the end, but the beginning of a new story, a prologue.
For this exhibition our gallery has selected talented artists, whose works seem to be suitable for decorating this final chapter (epilogue). We would like to present a new values and directions for the art that will lead to the prologue of the next story by introducing artists who are not bound by existing values and frameworks.

“MOENO exhibition” @ GALLERY ART POINT.bis

Moeno is a Japanese-style painter who focuses on grasses and flowers, pursuing a decorative mode of expression that makes full use of line and negative space. Her aim is to move beyond realism and depict the subtle tremors that lie deep within memory and emotion. One critic has noted that her style “possesses a universal beauty while evoking the delicacy characteristic of Japanese art.” In particular, her supple lines and her deliberate use of unpainted space reveal a unique aesthetic sensibility reminiscent of Redon’s decorative panels.

The “ma”—the intervals and spaces formed by the contours of branches and blossoms—gives the viewer room for imagination, allowing untold stories to unfold within the mind. This serene worldview captures fleeting glimmers and the lingering traces of passing time as a single “landscape.” The theme of this solo exhibition, Echoes of Light, emerges as a natural extension of such sensibilities.

In this exhibition, she explores materials and techniques rarely used in traditional Japanese painting, such as irregularly shaped panels, effect pigments, and screen fabric. The irregular panels gently unravel the boundaries of the pictorial surface, allowing light and color to diffuse more freely. The translucency of the screen material enhances the effects of back-painting, creating a delicate, silk-like appearance. Through the universal motif of grasses and flowers, her work seeks to let even the invisible—light, sound, and atmosphere—resonate between line and empty space, establishing a world of artworks imbued with quiet and profound afterglow.

“Spectrum 2025” @ GALLERY ART POINT

The title of this exhibition, “ Spectrum ” represents the distribution of wavelengths in spectroscopy. It is used to decompose complex information and signals, such as the rainbow band that appears when sunlight is passed through a prism, and arrange them regularly in order of quantity and intensity. In a broad sense, it also means the scope and domain of ideas and activities.
Contemporary art is to be various expression methods to understand the problems of modern society and the inner side of human beings living in modern society from various perspectives, and to express and appeal from different perspectives. Above all, it foresee the immediate future that is important to us and conveys hope. It is necessary for each artist to take a flexible perspective, re-examine the importance and relationships of communicating through art.
By bringing together the works that have been created through such a process, we hope that each artist’s approach will spread like a rainbow across the entire space, reflecting and sharing awareness from the artist to the viewer, and continuing the awareness from the artist to the viewer, so that art will be connected in a social context.
In this exhibition, we would like to explore the direction and possibilities for the next generation through the works of selected artists.

“大口 かつみ 2025” @ GALLERY ART POINT.bis

Since 2007, Katsumi Ōguchi has been creating artworks using transparent watercolor. In the early stages of his career, he focused exclusively on expression through transparent watercolor alone. However, in recent years, he has expanded his artistic approach by freely incorporating a variety of traditional and contemporary materials such as ink, acrylic, gold and silver leaf, and gofun (white shell pigment), transcending the boundaries of technique and medium. More recently, he has also introduced three-dimensional forms into his work, further broadening the scope of his artistic expression.
In his watercolor works, Ōguchi emphasizes the interplay of light and shadow and the subtle nuances of color. With a brushwork that is both graceful and powerful, he has developed a distinctive style that leaves a vivid impression and conveys intense energy to viewers. His series featuring animals as motifs is particularly notable for its keen ability to capture the emotional depth and tension of life through their gaze and movement.
Butterflies are also a recurring and significant motif in Ōguchi’s work.
In the pieces exhibited in this show, he employs rich textures (matière) created with ink, gofun, and plaster to symbolically represent the complex challenges facing contemporary society—climate change, conflict, and economic instability. Amid such difficult conditions, the butterfly, on the verge of exhaustion, spreads its wings and catches the wind with skill, striving to move forward. This image is portrayed as a symbol of “hope” and “courage”—resisting adversity and pressing onward into the future.
This work embodies the artist’s strong will and heartfelt wish: to overcome hardship and still believe in the future.

Gen Kobayashi’s work is grounded in techniques found in classical painting, where rough brushstrokes seen up close coalesce into a vivid image when viewed from a distance. Building on this method, he applies it to depict complex motifs such as plants and thickets. In recent years, he has sought compositions without a fixed center, experimenting with ways in which countless parallel brushstrokes emerge not as a single object but as a “landscape of events.”
The act of observing and painting incorporates not only external complexity but also internal layers of memory, sensation, and emotion. In particular, primal experiences from childhood—the smell of soil and grass, the sound of rain, the atmosphere of the seasons—are awakened during observation, creating a space where past and present overlap. The image that arises here is neither reality itself nor mere reverie, but something that wavers and comes into being within the tension where the two touch.
This becoming does not converge in a linear way but unfolds with a nonlinear expansiveness. The scene of reality is never given in a pure form; rather, it intersects with symbolic memories and sensations, appearing imbued with new meaning. Observational depiction is thus an attempt to inhabit this space of intersection and to render visible the event in which reality and symbolism mutually pe*****te. Time and space, memory and reality, sensation and reverie—these elements intertwine and bleed into one another, forming a single image.
In this exhibition, based on such a perspective, I present works that, while grounded in concrete observation, also weave together layers of space, time, memory, and imagery, offering a place where the external world and the inner world dissolve into one another.

The term “mental image” refers to the images that arise in the mind—imaginary landscapes shaped by experiences, emotions, and sensations, often described as mental landscapes. In today’s world, where countless images—from landscapes to advertisements—and diverse races, cultures, and values coexist, the mental landscapes formed within individuals vary greatly.
Amid rapid change, values and cultures undergo cycles of integration and division, constantly renewing our perception of the world. Artists quietly observe this rich and chaotic world through their own perspectives and insights, sublimating it into art and relativizing images in the process. The works of contemporary art thus created serve as starting points for rethinking how we perceive the world, while also presenting new forms of diversity in response to the many issues within contemporary society.
This exhibition, curated by Art Point, explores the mental images of selected contemporary artists, inviting viewers to engage with their inner landscapes and to reconsider the relationship and essence between contemporary art and society.

“Natsue Kanda exhibition” @ GALLERY ART POINT.bis

Natsue Kanda has been working under the name IRIE CHALK WORKS as both a chalk art instructor and chalk artist, creating works with oil pastels for the past 11 years.
Chalk art, said to have originated in the UK and Australia, is a form of modern art in which oil pastels are blended by hand on a blackboard surface prepared with primer on MDF board. By smudging with the fingers, it creates smooth gradations and a sense of three-dimensionality. With its vivid colors, the style first spread as menu boards and signs in cafés and restaurants.
Motivated by the desire to make chalk art known beyond its commercial use, Kanda has continued to create boards intended for artistic appreciation. Her distinctive style is characterized by works in a restrained palette of white, black, and gray, layered with one or two colors, to depict motifs reminiscent of tropical scenery—seemingly in contrast with the cool impression of her base tones.
This exhibition presents 18 works from across her 11-year career, including new pieces. Each work serves as a footprint—a marker of a turning point in her life—reflecting on her emotions and experiences at the time, while also expressing hopes for the future.
