＼ガルハ青森との協働制作／
李奧森(ヴァル・リー) 《Voy!》
青森のブラインドサッカーチーム「ガルハ青森」と協働した制作が進行中💭💡
先日、アーティストの李奧森（ヴァル・リー）、出演者の汪冠岳（ワン・グアンユエ）、梁俊文（リャン・チュンウェイ）と、ガルハ青森の上田さん、上原さんとの、来日前最後のオンラインミーティングを行いました。🗣️😆
ガルハ青森の皆さんとは、公演中に観客の皆さんが参加する部分について一緒に考えながら制作を進めています。
これまで暗闇の中でパフォーマンスを上演した経験のあるリーさんは、暗闇の中では自分の姿も他人の姿も見えないため、自分はいま観客に向けてパフォーマンスをしているのか、それとも普段通りの自分でいるのか、その境界が分からなくなる瞬間があったと話してくれました。
それに対して上田さんは、視覚障がい者として日常生活を送る中では、晴眼者が普段あまり意識しないような音や周囲の気配などが、行動する上で重要なシグナルになることがあると応答。そして、そうしたシグナルに反応している自分の動きが、晴眼者から見ると非日常的な動き、あるいはパフォーマンスのように見えることもあるのではないか、という話を共有してくれました。
上原さんは、アイマスクをしてブラインドサッカーをプレーする際、自分がきちんとプレーできているのかどうかを、サポーターの声を通して判断しているという話をしてくれました。つまり、周囲から聞こえてくる声が、自分自身を認識するための手がかりとなり、その認識そのものを形作っているようです。🏃♀️➡️🏃🏻♂️
一方で、台湾チームからは本番に向けた練習内容の共有がありました。例えば、練習スタジオだけでなく、屋外や美術館など、多様な環境を使ったり、アイマスクを着けた状態でATMからお金を下ろしたり、コーヒーを買ったりするなど、ユニークな練習も行っているそう。☕️💰
アイマスクを着けたときの出演者2人の反応も、大きく異なります。ワンさんは、まず自分の足を使って周囲の状況を確かめに行くタイプ。一方、リャンさんは、目の見える人からのサポートをまず求め、そこから必要な情報を得ようとするタイプ。
「見えない」という状況に置かれることで、これまで自分でも気づかなかった自分の一面を発見することがある。そうした経験から、ヴァルさんは、目が見えないということは、単に視覚を失うことではなく、自分でもまだ知らない自分の一面を発見することでもあるのではないか、と話していました。
そんなやり取りを経てできた、観客参加型のパフォーマンスとは⁉️

Val Lee “Voy!”
The other day, we held our final online meeting before the artists’ arrival in Japan with artist Val Lee, performers Wang Guan-Yue and Liang Chun-Wen, and Ueda-san and Uehara-san from Garuha Aomori. 🗣️😆
Together with the members of Garuha Aomori, we have been developing the part of the performance in which audience will participate.
Val, who has previously created and performed in complete darkness, shared an experience of not being able to see either self or anyone else. In the darkness, it became difficult to distinguish between being performative and simply being oneself. In response,
Ueda-san shared that, as a visually impaired person, sounds and sensations in the surrounding environment that sighted people might not usually pay much attention to can become important signals for navigating everyday life. The way he responds to these signals through his movements may, from the perspective of sighted people, appear unusual or even look like a performance. Uehara-san also shared that when playing blind football while wearing an eye mask, he judges whether he is playing properly through the voices of his supporters. In other words, the voices he hears around him become clues for understanding himself, shaping his own perception of where he is and what he is doing. 🏃♀️➡️🏃🏻♂️
The Taiwan team also shared how they have been preparing for the performance. Their training takes place not only in the studio but also in a variety of environments, including outdoors and in the museum. They also do unique exercises such as withdrawing money from an ATM or buying coffee while wearing an eye mask. ☕️💰
The two performers also respond very differently when wearing an eye mask. Wang tends to first use his own body to explore and understand the situation. Liang, on the other hand, tends to first seek support from sighted people and gather information.
Being unable to see has allowed them to discover aspects of themselves they had never noticed before. Val reflected that blindness can also be an opportunity to discover parts of oneself previously unknown.
